<jannyboy[m]>
Goodday Great team , i just bought new hp desktop for my ltsp clients , when its boot its timeout . error /ltsp/x86_64/vmlinuz... connection timed out
06:59
<err404[m]>
the vmlinuz is probably missing
06:59
<alkisg1>
Do any other clients work?
07:00
<jannyboy[m]>
alkisg1: yes , only the desktop
07:00
* the desktop that are not working
07:00
<alkisg1>
Take a photo of the client screen at the time that it fails, and upload it here
07:21
<jannyboy[m]>
<alkisg1> "jannyboy: try this page, up to..." <- so i must also do this :Create /etc/dnsmasq.d/local.conf with the following content
07:22
<alkisg1>
jannyboy: just run this: sudo wget https://boot.ipxe.org/ipxe.pxe -O /srv/tftp/ltsp/undionly.kpxe
07:22
Nothing more at all.
07:22
Don't create an /etc/dnsmasq.d/local.conf
07:28
<jannyboy[m]>
great , so i must restart to apply because when i do ltsp initrd its still doing the same
07:29
<alkisg1>
jannyboy: can I see with screen sharing?
07:29
If so, x11vnc -connect alkisg.ltsp.org
07:29
<jannyboy[m]>
yes please
07:34
<alkisg1>
jannyboy: boot the client please
07:36
<jannyboy[m]>
ok
07:36
<alkisg1>
Did it boot?
07:37
Eeeh you login as root in xorg? Don't do that it'l cause you issues, unrelated to ltsp!
07:43
<jannyboy[m]>
no
07:46
jannyboy[m]: then start afresh ?
07:46
<alkisg1>
I didn't manage to see the logs, I only watched for the first minute...
07:47
Take a video of the client from the time it boots, where it shows the bios letters etc
07:47
<jannyboy[m]>
ok
07:59* jannyboy[m] uploaded a video: (6745KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/gmDsbKEEDzRrFoRlEDQbpxVV/WhatsApp%20Video%202023-06-13%20at%2009.55.53.mp4 >
08:07
<jannyboy[m]>
i don't know if its clear
08:08
<alkisg1>
It starts with ipxe, not with bios
08:09
But anyway do this test: try to connect it to another network wall socket
08:09
ipxe doesn't like bad cabling and can do such things in that case
08:11
<jannyboy[m]>
ok let me connect direct
08:11
<alkisg1>
Another thing. The client says 192.168.2.12 but the server never sent that IP
08:12
Do you have a second ltsp server around?
08:13
<jannyboy[m]>
192.168.2.12 is the main sever , yes i have another ltsp sever for the next class 192.168.10.13
08:13
<alkisg1>
Ah OK that's the server IP. It didn't mention the IP/MAC of the client
08:14
<jannyboy[m]>
client get ip correct
08:14
<alkisg1>
What is the clienet IP?
08:14
I can't check the logs without it
08:14
But anyway try in a different network wall socket first
08:18
<jannyboy[m]>
ip is 192.168.2.73
08:18
its doing the same
08:22
<alkisg1>
OK, it's uefi, /srv/tftp/ltsp/snponly.efi
08:23
jannyboy: try again to reboot the client now

<jannyboy[m]>
great 🫡
08:29
kindly tell what was the problem so that i can do to my second server
08:33
i see on your logs , thankx King
08:39
<alkisg1>
jannyboy: see the wget command that downloaded ipxe.efi over snponly.efi
08:39
Another solution could be to reconfigure the client to boot using BIOS mode, not UEFI mode
