Anyone have problems with gnome-screensaver not functioning?
00:35
lock screen throws an error 'XF86VidModeClientNotLocal' Any clues? I'm thinking its trying to run on server display, not the terminal
00:36
Oh, running K12Linux
00:43
<sbalneav>
Do you have "blank_only" set?
00:43
Or are you actually trying to run a graphical screensaver?
00:44
<amirul_>
yes, set from the screensaver applet
00:45NeonLich1 has quit IRC
00:47
<sbalneav>
Try
00:47
blank only
00:47
For starters, you *really* don't want a graphical screensaver running on a thin client.
00:51
<amirul_>
ok. done blank only. Still crashing with previous error
00:52NeonLicht has joined #LTSP
00:57
<sbalneav>
Well, it's a problem with gnome-screensaver not liking the fact that the display's remote.
00:57
I'd file a bug with K12
00:58
<amirul_>
ok will do. Thanks

hi we are using ltsp from lenny. Everything is working fine. Now I try to get local device support in a rdp session. Anyone experiences with this. I have read already a lot of things about it but nothing workable. Many txs

gekkos: all of our upstream code is maintained using "bzr" which is a version control system

10:06
<Gadi>
our method moving forward for supporting localdevices with rdp is to install ltspfs in the chroot
10:06
so it acts as an automounter
10:06
it will mount the devices in the chroot in /media/root
10:06Lns has joined #ltsp
10:06
<Gadi>
so, you would use: rdesktop -r disk:drives=/media/root ...
10:07rjune_wrk has joined #ltsp

and get a "drives" share in Windows under which will be folders for the drives
10:07
but, lenny was having issues up until just last week

with the local mounting
10:08
<gekkos>

13:33
<stgraber>
ah, right, forgot this one ...
13:33
<ogra>
and you should add a get-orig-source target to debian/rules
13:34
beyond that it looks perfect
13:35
<stgraber>
ogra: hmm, is get-orig-source needed when there's a watch file ?
13:36

i think its good style to have one
13:36
http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/revu1-incoming/uboot-imx-0907132009/uboot-imx-2009.01/debian/rules
13:36
<stgraber>
(I don't think any of the packages I touch have get-orig-source ;))
13:36
<ogra>
just copy paste :)
13:36
<stgraber>
well, that one is because it was repacked ...
13:36
<ogra>
(with porper url and without recompressing indeed)
13:37
what was repacked ?
13:37
lbagent ?
13:37
<stgraber>
I mean, get-orig-source makes sense when upstream is .bz2 or contains a debian directory or similar stuff so you can easily reproduce the .orig.tar.gz
13:38hanthana has quit IRC
13:38
<stgraber>
didn't think it was needed when upstream is already a clean .tar.gz but anyway, that's easy to add
13:38
<ogra>
get-orig-source simply makes maintenance very easy
13:38vagrantc has joined #ltsp
13:38
<ogra>
its more convenient for people coming after you and taking over maintenance
13:39
indeed, lintian wont complain if there is a watch file
13:39
but i think its good style to add it to new packages
13:39
<stgraber>
it actually does complain if missing a watch file
13:40
<ogra>
i think it checks for either, if get-orig-source is there it doesnt complain ...
13:40
but i'm not 100% sure
13:40
anyway, since you have to touch it anyway its a good training ;)
13:41
and just a copy/paste job

13:44
<ogra>
highvoltage, exactly
13:44
<stgraber>
highvoltage: yeah, it does the same as uscan does with the watch file

14:08

14:08
<ogra>
hmm, wouldnt you need a dep somewhere for that ?
14:08
or build-dep
14:09
<stgraber>
ogra: btw your example is broken as the upstream version is hardcoded there ...
14:10
<ogra>
thats specific to that package
14:11
<stgraber>
the example on Ubuntu's wiki uses uscan to guess the upstream version, so using uscan for everything should be fine too :)
14:11
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Examples/ChangingTheOrigTarball
14:11
(the "if you use a watch file" part)
14:12
the UPSTREAM_VERSION is retrieved with uscan, so calling uscan --download will be even better
