heh. it was only a matter of time: https://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=ldm&arch=kfreebsd-amd64&ver=2:2.0.40-2
00:28
<Ryan52>
shhhh! they haven't filed a bug report yet. :P
00:29
<vagrantc>
i found this bug months and months ago
00:29
<Ryan52>
oh :P
00:29
<vagrantc>
interestingly enough, 2.0.6 worked fine.
00:30
if they file a bug about it, hopefully it'll come with patches that aren't evil.
00:30
<Ryan52>
:)
00:31
<vagrantc>
and ltspfs fails because there's no fuse port in debian yet..
00:32
and because ltsp on stable is restricted to i386, amd64 and powerpc, it seems like the buildd's don't even try for other architectures, even though the current package should allow them.

<alkisg>
Hi, does anyone have an *unmodified* version of /etc/network/interfaces as it is after the installation of the Ubuntu 9.04 alternate CD, either with 1 or 2 NICs?
02:42
<ogra>
*unmodified* has only lo
02:43
<alkisg>
ogra: with 2 NICs it should also have eth1
02:43
And I think it also has "auto ethX" without any other information about the ethX interfaces..
02:43
(eth1 being the one with IP=192.168.0.254 - or is it eth0? don't remember...)
02:44
<ogra>
totally dynamic
02:45
with an LTSP install you will have the NIC that doesnt have the default route at install time ...
02:45
so it depends what you picked in netcfg (which happens way before ltsp-client-builder)
02:45
<alkisg>
So it can be either? OK. Still wondering if I remember correctly those "auto ethX" lines for nm managed interfaces, though...
02:46
<ogra>
NM still wont touch interfaces that have an auto entry
02:46
<alkisg>
It does: "auto eth0" with no other line about eth0 => managed by NM
02:46
<ogra>
yeah, thats not configured properly
02:46
<alkisg>
But if "iface eth0 inet dhcp" is declared, then NM does not manage it
02:47
<ogra>
it doesnt parse the file it uses a tool
02:47
if the tool errors out because the iface isnt properly configured, NM indeed takes over
02:47
<alkisg>
Ah. OK, thanks. I guess I remember wrong about those "auto ethx" lines.
02:48
(I thought they're there by default)
02:48

yeah some functions are not the greatest, but almost there
06:42
I will do that
06:43
I ordered all my cable and switches yesterday, should be delivered by 4 today :) very excited
06:44
have been just bringing the thin clients into my office and hooking them to the switch, will be nice to actually see them all functioning where they belong

Anyone using pam_mount ? Can't make it create my homedirs on the NFS export
06:44
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/OpenLDAP_NFS_SSL tried what it says on this page but I still get "no such file"

Sorry Appiah I am too new to know what that is yet.

bastubis: Do you have 2 nics in the machine? Or one?
08:24

08:25
(morning!)
08:25
<sbalneav>
So, you've got the terminals hanging off of one nic, and the internet connected to the other?
08:26
<bastubis>
yes
08:28
<sbalneav>
Then chaning the internet nic shouldn't affect the ltsp terminals at all
08:28
can you paste you /etc/network/interfaces to the pastebot?
08:28

can't connect to the mahcine, would have to paste it via usb - basically, ifconfig shows no ip at all for the nic

but if it's LTSP 4.2, it's not going to be using pulseaudio, is it?

13:14* Lns scoffs at Gadi_eeepc for not drinking more than 2 beers last night - wah, he had to drive an hour and a half back to his hotel, wah... ;) hehe

Lns: You should have been a gentleman and offered to get him a cab
13:14
<coordinador>
after rebooting box
13:14
esdplay some.wav worked again :)
13:15
<Lns>
rjune_wrk: I would have, but he'd have a problem getting to his car in the morning ;)
13:15
<rjune_wrk>
coordinador: check that mplayer is using esd or pulse as it's audio output.
13:15
preferably esd
13:15
<coordinador>
ok
13:17
worked fine, after i push stop, and then play again
13:17
no more sound
13:17
<rjune_wrk>
what audio output method is it using?
13:20
<Lns>
sounds like it's locking the sound device..
13:24
<coordinador>
yes, i think the same
13:24
audio output method?
13:24
it's esd
13:25
if it's that what you mean
13:25
pulseaudio in server -> esd in clients i think
13:26
<rjune_wrk>
yup
13:26
I wanted to know what is mplayer doing
13:26
because it seems like it's doing something wrong
13:27
<coordinador>
yes, .. may be, if there is a way to restart esd, may work?
13:27
or just use other player like xine
13:29
<sbalneav>
coordinador: I would suspect that esd is crashing on the client.
13:30
<coordinador>
ill see what happen if i do ps |grep esd in local console
13:30
process is running
13:31
<sbalneav>
Doesn't mean it isn't latched up, though.
13:35
<Lns>
Is there not an easy way to get pulse on the client in 4.2? that sure would seem to fix those issues, i'd think
13:35
<rjune_wrk>
Lns: You could get the LBE and build it yourself, but no, not really
13:35
nobody's doing 4.2 anymore
13:35
<Lns>
well, not NOBODY... ;)
13:37
<coordinador>
GXINE did the trick :D
13:39
the only detail is that the program must to be able to configure the sound server to esd
13:39
:/

coordinador: mplayer couldn't do that?
13:43
<coordinador>
yes but locked the sound system i think

coordinador: somewhere in /etc is an mplayer.conf file
13:57
though if it's working with gxine, you're all good
13:57* Lns has always liked xine
13:57
<coordinador>
i think it fixed, i installed gstreamer plugin for esd
13:58
<rjune_wrk>
I use Ksomething, Don't remember what. I click on it and it plays, that's all I really care about
13:58
<coordinador>
now esd appeared in system->preferences-sound
13:58
and when i test, it works :)
13:58
ill see if rhythmbox works now..
13:58
IT WORKS!
13:58
:D
13:59
even sound control works fine
13:59
awesome :) thanks all that helped me
14:00
<Lns>
nice.
14:01
<coordinador>
i think now ill uninstall mplayer
14:01
<Lns>
yeah that gstreamer thing helps I guess. I remember having to install something like that a while back in Ubuntu Gutsy to get sound working when LTSP5 first came out
14:11
<coordinador>
well, have to go now
14:12
thanks again, and thanks for the patience, my main language is spanish
14:12

Are scanners basically the same as other localdevs in LTSP? If it's supported by the distro, it'll work in LTSP as long as localdev is enabled?
14:21
<sbalneav>
Lns: no, scanners are a separate beast
14:21
<Lns>
sbalneav: any particular scanners that work well? I'm in the market for one
