cliebow, this is what I need to read if I want to contrib with the project?
13:27
<Gadi>
cliebow_: do you get that error on a terminal or at the server?
13:28
<g333k_work>
cliebow, this is for ltsp 4.2, what about .tsp 5?
13:34
where can I get the source code of ltsp 5?
13:35
<Gadi>
g333k_work: its hosted on launchpad at the moment
13:35
you will need bzr
13:36
<cliebow_>
Gadi: i found the prob..one more simlink between /etc/X11/rgb.txt and /usr/X11R6/lib/X11
13:38

Gadi, I dont understand
13:42
...
13:44
<cliebow_>
g333k_work: you will need bzr to work with launchpad where latest ltsp work is centered
13:44
<Gadi>
g333k_work: LTSP5 work was really spearheaded by our Ubuntu friends first, so we have been leveraging a lot of their powerful dev tools
13:45
bzr is for version control
13:45
launchpad hosts bzr repos
13:46
<g333k_work>

Hi! I'm using Debian Testing on my server and I am trying to deploy some diskless workstations. Everything works great, except international keyboard support. Setxkbmap doesn't work, it says "error loading keyboard description". I can do setxkbmap -print ro | xkbcomp - $DISPLAY as it says in the manpage for setxkbmap and it works, however I would like it to work directly so that kxkb won't have problems either. I followed the instructions on the wiki for this
15:45
specific problem, but nothing has changed. What can I do?

Is there any way I can have a mixed-mode network, where I don't have to use LTSP as a DHCP and BOOTP server?
16:04
I'll be using this in a little bit of a mixed network, and I don't want to prevent the other machines from not being able to work properly.

19:00* vagrantc is worried for ltsp in etch

20:12
<cliebow>
vagrantc:why worry?
20:17
<vagrantc>
cliebow: because it could get removed
20:18
cliebow: it has a trivial to fix (one-liner) release-critical bug, i've built packages, and nobody's uploading them in 6 days. in 7 days, it could get removed from etch, i think.
20:18
so, tomorrow we may have some very sad news for ltsp in debian.
20:25
<cliebow>
that sucks
20:25
so the maintainers arent looking at the fix?
20:27
<vagrantc>
well, i'm a maintainer, i just don't have upload rights.
20:28
so ... the people with upload rights aren't acting fast enough, in a "i'm worried it might get yanked from etch" sort of way.
20:28
and to add insult to injury, there seem to be technical problems with me delivering this mail to our mailing list.
20:31
<cliebow>
good grief..
20:31
so etch commits very very soon..?
20:35
<vagrantc>
well, the release managers can remove packages from etch that have unresolved RC bugs that are older than 7 days.
20:36
and then we'd have to beg to get them back in
20:36
though exactly when it releases is still rather unclear

20:49* vagrantc looks up the 7 day rule ...
20:49
<vagrantc>
i'm not 100% sure on that ... but i know leaving RC bugs in your packages during a freeze is a good way to get them yanked.
20:51
yup. 1 week.
20:51
which, i guess is always the case, but during a freeze it's harder to get back in.
20:52jammcq has joined #ltsp

hello all
20:52* vagrantc does the nervous hope-to-hell ltsp stays in etch dance
20:53
<cliebow>
jammcq:vagrantc needs a little chering up
20:53
<jammcq>
oh?
20:53
might ltsp get kicked out of etch ?
20:54
<vagrantc>
yeah, it's got a trivial bug that could get it yanked if nobody uploads a new fix.
20:54
<jammcq>
what's the problem?
20:54
<vagrantc>
nobody who has upload rights is uploading
20:54
<jammcq>
protesting still?
20:54
<vagrantc>
i've got built and confirmed working packages, just nobody to upload yet...
20:55
maybe i'm stressing too much about this...
20:55
<jammcq>
why is nobody uploading?
20:56
<vagrantc>
(oh, and i'm also not able to post to the debian ltsp mailing list, which is where i should start talking about this)
20:56
jammcq: i have no idea.
20:56
<jammcq>
what the hell is going on?
20:57
<vagrantc>
the mailing list problem is a technical one i think ...
20:57
that'll teach me to get a job.
20:57
that's obviously the problem.
20:58
<jammcq>
well..... you could always quit :)
20:59
<vagrantc>
well, yes. there are certain repercusions that might result in an even more drastic inability to work on ltsp though. at least now i have two days a week i can try to get ltsp stuff done :)
21:02
if you look at the uploaders list, for debian's ltsp, it's impressive. 8 people team. but i've only seen activity from about 4 of them.
21:02
and only 3 of those can actually upload.
