Hi there, i just did an ltsp installation on a kubuntu 20.04, chrootless. Now i tried to mount a qnap nas for that. It seems to work fine - in terminal the client can see the folder in /mnt/fileserver (but cant navigate any deeper - but i will look into that later) - but with a "normal" file explorder - dolphin in this case - clicking the mounted
folder/nas just loads endlessly. Does anyone know this behaviour and maybe has an idea, what could be wrong. mnt was dont in /etc/ltsp/ltsp.conf via the line "FSTAB_HOME="192.168.55.100:/ /mnt/fileserver nfs defaults, nolock 0 0"

Peter54: does the /mnt/fileserver folder exist on the client?
yes it does.
Peter54: what's the output of these commands on the client? (mount; ls /mnt/fileserver) | nc termbin.com 9999

those folders listed at the bottom there are the ones on my nas
the last 16

sry- had a disconnect. back again
Peter54: ok, so the folder is mounted, where do you see that it "loads endlessly"?
when i try to open one of these folder in the terminal - or when using the kde file explorer - dolphin.
so e.g. cd /mnt/filesever/homes just does nothing - i have to CTRL+C to get to the command line again
Run `journalctl -fb` on the client, then `ls /mnt/fileserver/homes`, then check if you see a kernel message about it
In general though that issue is not related to LTSP; LTSP just puts the line in /etc/fstab, the rest is usual Linux, so you can troubleshoot it using your distribution community help
$ journalctl -fb
Hint: You are currently not seeing messages from other users and the system.
Users in the 'systemd-journal' group can see all messages. Pass -q to
turn off this notice.
No journal files were opened due to insufficient permissions.
k - the ltsp part seems right;) - another question: as i also have some kde programs crashing - especially those using a prompt - e.g. The search field in the starmenu or the krunner (quickstarter). Do you know if kde works well with ltsp or have you heard about problems like that?
about journalctl: can i see the clients journal as admin? as you can see the client lacks permission - but maybe i misunderstood.

not quite sure how to get access to journalctl as client.
Login with a user that can sudo
Or use epoptes
epoptes: Epoptes is a computer lab administration and monitoring tool. It works on Ubuntu and Debian based labs with LTSP or non-LTSP servers, thin and fat clients, standalone workstations, NX clients etc. More info: https://epoptes.org
I haven't heard of an ltsp-specific kde issues, except for some "big cache" issues 10 years ago with ltsp5
ah ok - so its "just" the normal journal i can find in /var/log - nothing ltsp/user specific . thx for your help
