<wilbur>
really finding it hard to get used to sshfs, please can someone assist :)
00:20
on the host, i run the following to create the new user (which matches the client)
00:21
useradd -s /bin/bash -d /home/moonlight/ -m -G sudo moonlight
00:21
passwd moonlight
00:22
i then add the following in /etc/ltsp/ltsp.conf
00:22
[b8:85:84:ab:85:02]
00:22
HOSTNAME=pc01
00:22
PASSWORDS_PC01="moonlight/UnlhbkJvaDE="
00:22
i then run the following
00:22
ltsp initrd
00:24
then i reboot the pxe client, the gui comes up and i get the follwing when trying to login: read connection reset by peer. login incorrect. sorry that didn't work, please try again.
00:25
i can success ssh from client virtual machine to ltsp host using the moonlight credentials
00:25
just logging in on the pxe client comes up with the error

<TheProf>
Hello again. A follow-up question about migrating users from the older server to the new one. They are different versions of the Ubuntu distribution (one is Ubuntu Desktop, new one is Ubuntu Mate as per LTSP recommendation). Am I correct in thinking I should not copy over any of the hidden configuration folders? I'm thinking if it starts with a '.', I don't copy it over?
02:34
Or more realistically, I bulk-copy /home, and then run a script to delete everything that is .something?

<alkisg>
TheProf: leave the configuration as it is, it shouldn't cause problems and you won't risk losing important information like mails in .thunderbird
05:04
<TheProf>
alkisg: That's very interesting. So different versions of LibreOffice, browsers, between the two machines - all that won't matter?
05:04
<alkisg>
Yes normally it won't matter. New libreoffice should be able to upgrade settings from old libreoffice etc.
05:04
<TheProf>
For each user under /home/ there's tens of files that are hidden.
05:04
OK thanks.
05:04
<alkisg>
Although all of these aren't ltsp-specific
05:05
I.e. you'd best ask about these in #ubuntu etc
05:05
<TheProf>
Yes that part I understand. Sure I can ask there no problem.

wilbur: vnc-dide: To share your screen with me, run this: sudo apt-get --yes install x11vnc; x11vnc -connect srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr - this is a reverse connection, it doesn't need port forwarding etc.

vnc-edide: To share your screen with me, open Epoptes → Help menu → Remote support → Host: srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr, and click the Connect button
12:04

One of these
12:05
<wilbur>
apt-get --yes install x11vnc; x11vnc -connect srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr
12:05
running this now on the ltsp server
12:06
oh my server is headless, i will have to install xorg
12:07
<alkisg>
wilbur: no need
12:07
wilbur: how would I be able to access a client?
12:07
Do you have a virtual client?
12:07
<wilbur>
yes is virtual
12:08
i have the SSH session open and the VNC to the machine as well
12:08
<alkisg>
How do you access it? From web ui? It would be easier to just share your screen, is that windows?
12:08
I can use anydesk but not teamviewer
12:09
<wilbur>

12:09

12:11

12:30
<wilbur>

12:30
many thanks
12:30
<alkisg>
np
12:30
Closing anydesk
12:30
<wilbur>
is then a bug, or maybe worth a mention in the ltsp webpage that the option may cause sshfs to not work?
12:33
<alkisg>
wilbur: no idea I didn't develop and I'm not maintaining the IMAGE_TO_RAM option
12:33
Try asking kvaps

when i make the user auto login (desktop environment) and reboot, the settings does not save (ubuntu 20.04) the /home is sshfs, do you know why this would happen?
12:54
is ok, have found it: ltsp init GDM3_CONF parameter
13:14
[clients] GDM3_CONF="AutomaticLoginEnable=true AutomaticLogin=moonlight "
13:14
how do we do multiple options, as space and comma both not working, or do we simply put in multiple lines
13:17
<alkisg>
wilbur: GDM3_CONF="line1
13:17
line2"
13:18
Or, use an /etc/ltsp/gdm3.conf file and point to it
13:18
<wilbur>
many thanks :) noted for future use, as simply using autologin now
13:18
Or, use an /etc/ltsp/gdm3.conf file and point to it ? how do i do this please?
13:19
as that would be useful for my next steps
13:20
<alkisg>
GDM3_CONF=/etc/ltsp/gdm3.conf
13:21
<wilbur>
well noted, i will also play with the FSTAB_x section too
