I'm trying to install LTSP41 on Fedora 7, I thought portmapper came with NFS, have NFS configured and running, but ltsp says portmapper is not installed nor running. Any ideas?

CyberMac, try netstat -anp|grep ":111"
CyberMac, :why not 4.2...?
Hmm think I found my problem.. portmap has been deprecated and replaced with rpcbind
which is why the package manger doesn't find portmap either.. wonder if I can just go get the source and install it without causing to much harm.. ha
cool...but do consider 4.2,,it is optimised best of any
or do both..whatever..no one really cares \0_
actually guess it is 4.2... *shrug* thanks.. guess I'll just run it and see what happens without portmap
should be something running on port 111
CyberMac, let us know how things go in case the question comes up again
k, starting things up now to give it a try thanks much
Most of us are ubuntophiles these days

cliebow: I finally got a little ppc machine I can test with
ahhh cool..like ana ibook or something?
for ubuntu..or ltsp?
oh looks sort of like a tower?
haandles on top?
not the tower, the iMac blue the monitor only looking thing
i guess i know..it might not do dhcp..might need a hard code bootp type entry
I could not get it to boot a linux CD and found out it was because it was only registering 32mb RAM
if you need a chroot..i think i have one on a website
jernels and stuff
kernels and stuff
So I pulled it apart and found that the plastic clips that hold the RAM chip in place was broken
I just jury rigged the RAM in with some match sticks
so you/ll end up with a whopping 64 then?
almost 300mb now and loads linux just fine now ;-)
It was a 256mb chip floating around in the case
i kind of like the f12 keystroke in lieu of right-click..but you'll prob use a usb mouse anywaya..
I think that's why they tossed it
little suoergllue and sosme match sticks..
Yea, the mouse was kinda hosed
I just used my USB mouse with it
|17:17||CyberMac has left #ltsp|
I'm going to load it up with a full distro this week so I can play with how linux on ppc works before I start playing with ltsp on it
that is great..i cant remember there being any tricks to it...ubuntu?
gentoo as always
I dont do ubuntu
yep...interesting project..you gonna try to build a gentoo chroot?
I dont think I need another
i guess easy enough to use th tarbaall.
I already have ppc crosscompilers on my x86_64 machine
from a netboot perspective..the position of yaboot.conf is still unclear..on sime machines it needs to be in the top of the tftp filesystem
err what do you call it
I'm not sure yet, but I will
tftp chroot maybe?
When I get to that stage i'll look you up ;-)
