08:23 | <MissionaryMan> can anyone point me to some real beginners docs for ltsp-cluster?
| |
08:23 | I've read the openvz docs on the cluster site
| |
08:24 | but need something a little simpler ...
| |
08:25 | <Appiah> never seen a simplefied doc for ltsp-cluster
| |
08:25 | that openvz guide works just fine
| |
08:25 | even if your not using openvz
| |
08:26 | oh execpt this one : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSP-Cluster
| |
08:27 | <MissionaryMan> yep, read that one too.
| |
08:27 | I know it sounds a bit dumb
| |
08:27 | but I need something that covers the background of what they're achieving, rather than just the actual instructions.
| |
08:27 | <Appiah> oh
| |
08:27 | <MissionaryMan> I want to make sure I'm following the right stuff for the right purpose.
| |
08:28 | <Appiah> but there is none :D
| |
08:28 | <MissionaryMan> yeh, that's what I figured!
| |
08:28 | Maybe I should write some ... ha ha ha
| |
08:29 | <Appiah> I also thought of that
| |
08:29 | <MissionaryMan> my issues are based around expanding from just one server running ltsp, to many.
| |
08:29 | <Appiah> but I'm afraid to do one since I dont really know
| |
08:29 | <MissionaryMan> I can configure one server and get it working no trouble.
| |
08:29 | <Appiah> I got ltsp cluster up and running on several installs
| |
08:29 | <MissionaryMan> but I want to build a cluster, but am not sure how to connect everything together, and then how to configure them.
| |
08:30 | the instructions already mentioned assume you know why you're doing what you're doing!
| |
08:30 | <Appiah> I've used loadbalancer, terminalroot and control center on the same virtual machine
| |
08:30 | <MissionaryMan> using vz?
| |
08:30 | <Appiah> since the VM already has its own reduandacy
| |
08:30 | no Vmware and Xenserver
| |
08:30 | and then just make a bunch of application servers
| |
08:31 | I wish there were some best practices / white papers on ltsp-cluster
| |
08:32 | but I'm afraid to do one myself since I dont really know how the loadbalancer or the control center works
| |
08:32 | <MissionaryMan> I've got 4 x 336 IBM servers that I want to build a cluster with. each has 2 x network ports. I am not sure how to configure them, hardware wise, for the best solution.
