after some routine gentoo update, our ltsp client images no longer work correctly -- everybody but me can no longer log in, the X session starts and then ends after 3 seconds... I can still log in -- tried various window managers in ~/.xsession, didn't change anything. any hints on what to look out for?
08:14
<alkisg>
Is that ltsp5 or ltsp21?
08:15
<fiesh>
I think the former
08:15
<alkisg>
If you have `ltsp-info`, it's ltsp5. If you have `ltsp info`, it's the newer one
08:16
<fiesh>
I have neither haha
08:16
on the client I suppose?
08:16
<alkisg>
Press ltsp and tab twice
08:16
If you see ltsp-update-image etc, binaries with dashes, it's the older
08:16
If you only see a single ltsp binary, it's the newer
08:17
<fiesh>
oh, no then it's the older
08:17
ah there is ltsp-info on the server, sorry
08:17
<alkisg>
OK no idea then; ltsp5 is no longer maintained or supported, for good reason :)
08:17
<fiesh>
heh ok, thanks anyhow ;-)
08:21
I hope one day there'll be ltsp21 on Guix -- that would be sufficient new tech for me to prepare an entire switch of our system
08:25
<alkisg>
It will need a maintainer! It shouldn't be hard! :)
08:31
<fiesh>
haha indeed ;-)
10:55
is there any way I can make whatever happens after the login -- probably some ldm script -- log more verbosely?
10:55
I have no idea why it works with one user but doesn't with others... I obviosuly suspect some permission issue, but it's impossible to tell

Hi there. I am currently trying to use ltsp as client for a qnap-nas (has openldap and fileserver running on it). My current question is, if there is a way to set the home folder of the ldap users via ltsp when they login? For now its automatically set on the ldap server simply as /home/username and deactivated by default. Can this be changed via
11:06
ltsp for all? Else i would have to change each new user i create by hand.

LTSP calls sshfs server: without specifying a path, so it gets the default path which usually is home
11:17
You can either patch ltsp and put whatever path you like there in pamltsp (it's a python script), or maybe sshd_config has an option that you could use
11:19
<matt6789>
ok - thx. ill try to think of a solution that can work.

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you how to get the ltsp windows client image file. I am currently working on an architecture. The server is ubuntu-server and the client is windows.
17:32
<alkisg>
LTSP doesn't support Windows clients
17:32
(unless you want to boot Linux and run a Windows VM on top of it)
17:34
<eu^18019011327>
yes this is what i want can you tell me how to do it thanks

You use ltsp, and then you run virtualbox, and there you have windows :)
17:45
Try it!
