vagrantc: should we use pam_group to put localdev users to the fuse group, so that we don't bother with it server-side?
04:35
Ah sorry that wouldn't work, they need to be in the fuse group in the server too
04:39
<vagrantc>
alkisg: i use pam_group server-side to do that :)
04:40
<alkisg>
vagrantc: hm... maybe ltsp-config fuse then? :)
04:42
<vagrantc>
i can't believe i didn't get NFS configuration into ltsp-config yet.
04:43
i should evaluate all the tweaks i do on LTSP servers to see if it would make sense for ltsp-config
04:44
<alkisg>
vagrantc: do you have the /etc/security/groups.conf line handy?

i will eat a barrel of salt :(

The clients aren't the problem; slackware is :)

<naboo>
can i use ltsp-build-client on Slackware from Debian?
13:58
because from source script ltsp-build-client returns strange error
13:59
<vagrantc>
that seems highly unlikely to work
14:00
LTSP requiers a fair amount of distro-specific coding...
14:00
since not all distros use the same tools to build a chroot environment, boot using the same initramfs systems (if they use an initramfs at all), and numerous other things
14:00
<naboo>
LTSP 4.2 was simpler
14:01
<yopla>
sbalneav: thank you. LIKE is somewhat better than copy paste.
14:01
<naboo>
there was smart installer :(
14:01
<vagrantc>
a lot more complicated for the developers
14:01
LTSP 4.2 was an entire linux distribution, not just a few small packages
14:02
naboo: you could build a chroot for a foreign distro and then run that as your LTSP environment on your slackware server
14:02
naboo: but really, it probably wouldn't be hard to add support for LTSP to slackware... but nobody's ever done it.
14:02
<naboo>
i.e. debian in chroot?
14:03
that is silly :P
14:03
vagrantc, i'll try
14:03
<vagrantc>
no less silly than running ltsp-build-client from debian and expecting it to work
14:04
<naboo>
vagrantc, that was only question to smarter than i
14:05
so what reason could be for /usr/share/ltsp/plugins/ltsp-build-client/common/010-etc-hosts: line 3: /opt/ltsp/amd64/etc/hosts: there is no file (or something like that)
14:06
vagrantc, but file /usr/share/ltsp/pl.... there is
14:06
vagrantc, if i figure out how to run LTSP on Slackware I will write how to on this
14:07
<vagrantc>
naboo: well, we'll want to integrate your code upstream, if you figure that out.
14:07
naboo: sounds like it didn't create a chroot, which should include /etc/hosts.
14:08
naboo: is /opt/ltsp/amd64 present?
14:08
<naboo>
vagrantc, yes
14:08
<vagrantc>
naboo: and is /opt/ltsp/amd64/etc/hosts present?
14:09
<naboo>
there is no /opt/ltsp/amd64/etc directory present
14:09
<vagrantc>
seems like you skipped creating a chroot, then.
14:09
<naboo>
vagrantc, i think that maby problem i
14:09
vagrantc, in creating directory or, as u said before chroot
14:09
<vagrantc>
naboo: are you running ltsp-build-client on slackware? did you create plugins to do all the distro-specific things?
14:10
<naboo>
vagrantc, yes a running ltsp-build-client on Slackware
14:10
<vagrantc>
naboo: you'll need files in /usr/share/ltsp/plugins/ltsp-build-client/Slackware that include similar functionality to what the other distros do.

14:11
<naboo>
vagrantc, i think that ltsp-build-client is more magically than it is
14:11
<vagrantc>
naboo: what is the output from: lsb_release --short --id
14:12
naboo: it's no magic, just a few lines of code :)
14:12
<naboo>
vagrantc, n/a
14:12
vagrantc, i thought*
14:13
<vagrantc>
naboo: you'll need to figure out a way to detect that you're running on slackware ... do you have the appropriate lsb packages installed?
14:13
<naboo>
vagrantc, i installed lsb_release from source
14:13mikkel has left IRC (mikkel!~mikkel@80-198-36-38-static.dk.customer.tdc.net, Quit: Leaving)
14:13
<naboo>
vagrantc, from here http://sourceforge.net/projects/lsb/?source=dlp
14:14
<vagrantc>
naboo: you'll have to figure out how to get it to report your distro
14:14
<naboo>
vagrantc, and some stuff from here http://www.linuxfoundation.org/
14:14
vagrantc, ok
14:14
<vagrantc>
so, i guess the first step is figure out you're running on Slackware in a way that ltsp-build-client can detect it :)
14:15
<naboo>
vagrantc, i'll do that :)
14:17
