I have a 64 bit ltsp server and I generated 32 bit client image. When I boot the client with gpxe, I get an error "Failed to connect to NBD server"
02:37
NBD server is running ont he server machine
02:41
<muppis>
Try catch does client try to connect and which port. Deafult should be 2000, but sometimes (when arch differs) hits wrong port.
02:42
<no_mind>
muppis: I tried connecting to nbd-server from client using this command "nbd-client 192.168.2.4 /dev/nbd0 -persist" . I get an error "nbd0: unknown partition table"
02:42
also
02:43
the gpxe is not autobooting
02:43
I have to manually specify kernel, initrd and boot at gpxe command line
02:43
I am using usb image from rom-o-matic/etherboot
02:45
<muppis>
Sounds like you got somehow corrupted imade.

Hi - I am writing a short Finnish Howto on Ubuntu LTSP installation. Is there an up-to-date version of hw requirements? I have seen several instances of calculation schemes but I do not know which I should refer to.

<sidartha>
I installed Chromium in chroot and have it running as a local app, however whenever I reboot the machine I have to set it up as if I opened it again for the first time.
11:44
Its not saving its session
11:47
<alkisg>
AFAIK chromium doesn't work with sshfs (the default with localapps), it needs nfs

<sidartha>
I changed include this string in LTS.CONF [NFS_HOME=/home] Do I have to add another directory for it to save its session?
11:52
<alkisg>
No, but did you export /home from your server?
11:52
If you didn't, then it still uses sshfs...

Sounds Like I should just stick with Firefox? Know of a way to sync extensions, bookmarks?
12:00
<alkisg>
sudo -i
12:00
echo '/home *(rw,sync,no_subtree_check)' >> /etc/exports
12:00
exportfs -ra
12:01
That exports /home...
12:01
And I'm also using NFS_HOME_OPTIONS=defaults,nolock in lts.conf to bypass that statd problem
12:02
(nolock ==> users shouldn't open the same file for writing simultaneously)
12:02
(it's only a work around, and not a good one, but it works for me)
12:03
Ah, and sudo apt-get install nfs-kernel-server
12:03
<sidartha>
alkisg: the reason I am using chromium is because of the sync ability. Do you think I should stay with firefox, and just install addons individualy?
12:03

alkisg: "localxterm" :: while sitting on a thin client, open a gnome terminal. In that, run: ltsp-localapps xterm. An xterm will open. That xterm runs locally, so any commands you enter there are executed directly on the client.
12:19
<alkisg>
sidartha: on a localxterm, run `mounts` and see if /home is mounted with nfs
12:19
Erm, mount, not mounts
12:22
<sidartha>
I dont see /home listed
12:23
<alkisg>
So it's not mounted with nfs
12:24

12:25
This tells you if it's exported on the server
12:26
<sidartha>
I think I made a duplicat /home export? How can I delete one of them.
12:27
it is exported to the server
12:27

Can you paste your lts.conf? Also, is this Lucid?
12:37
<sidartha>
http://pastebin.com/spam.php?i=iaWdrXC0 This is Lucid
12:39
<alkisg>
What does `status statd` tell you on the server?
12:39
Also, remove /home from LOCAL_APPS_EXTRAMOUNTS
12:40
(and, until you get it right, you may want to try: NFS_HOME_OPTIONS=defaults,nolock)
12:41
(a client reboot is needed - logoff won't do it)
12:42
<sidartha>
statd start/running, process 3634
12:44
and still not mounting
12:44
made lts.conf changes
12:44
<alkisg>
Try getting a local root screen on the client and mounting /home somewhere else manually:
12:45
In lts.conf, add:
12:45
SCREEN_02=shell
12:45
SCREEN_07=ldm
12:45
Reboot client, and at ldm press alt+ctrl+f2, you'll get a local root console
12:45
mkdir /tmp/home
12:45
mount -t nfs server:/home /tmp/home
12:51
<sidartha>
wron fs type....error

12:53
<vagrantc>

12:53
<sidartha>
no
12:54
installing it know
12:54
now
12:55
<alkisg>
(remember to run ltsp-update-image)
12:57
<vagrantc>
alkisg: nfs-common is needed, yes?
12:58
<alkisg>
On my notes in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/FatClients I have nfs-client, let me see in my sch-scripts code...
13:00
You're right, nfs-client is obsolete, I should change that to nfs-common, thanks :)

Hi, I was here a few hours ago asking about hp tf5700 video driver. The card states (From lspci) ATI Rage LX, the spec sheet says ati rage lx. its an 8mb card. I dont know what driver i am currently using but i have managed to get better resoultion by copying the entire mode line from one I found elsewhere. I dont understand the mode line so i cannot tell if it is the good thing to do or not.

You can change that in the windows server settings. I found the setting once, but never again :D
