06:18
<alkisg>
DonkeyHotei: you might want to search for whole dead units, not just the antenna
06:18
<DonkeyHotei>
again, dry
06:18
<alkisg>
OK
06:18
<DonkeyHotei>
at least on ebay
06:20
i don't even have any kind of part number

I always thought wifi antennas were just two wires in a form factor
07:12
<DonkeyHotei>
yes
07:12
with metal on the end
07:12
metal in a specific shape
07:26
there don't really seem to be parts-related posts on ltsp-discuss
07:26
<alkisg>
DonkeyHotei: parts is very specific, but some have asked about thin client hardware in the past
07:26
In any case, more people will here you that in IRC here
07:27
<DonkeyHotei>
exactly twice, from what i see
07:27
<alkisg>
No, they have asked dozens of times about hardware
07:27
<DonkeyHotei>
maybe it's the posts that are hidden from view by list administrators
07:28
<alkisg>
Nowadays people are using ltsp fat clients though, not sure if you'll find many still using ltsp thin clients
07:28
DonkeyHotei: why, you already read 15 years of mailing list archives?
07:28
<DonkeyHotei>
searched
07:28
<alkisg>
Well maybe your keywords weren't good enough; I'm reporting this from memory
07:29
<DonkeyHotei>
the t730 is kinda fat for a thin client anyway
07:29
<alkisg>
In any case, that's all the advice I can offer you about the part you're searching

<al-geo>
hello guys and girls! happy new year and marry christmas. i have a question: i have ubuntu 16.04 x86 server (vmware virtual machine). and configured fat clients. and many different machines for clients. on some machines i have good graphics (normal resolution) but on others bad resolution. how can i help? xorg-all is installed for example on integrated intel video there is very bad resolution.
13:43
<highvoltage>
it's almost a year until crhistmas
13:44
<alkisg>
al-geo: put the output of xrandr to pastebin
13:47
<al-geo>
its just terminal so far. i am starting my app with X :0 & xfwm4 and ./myAPP so xrandr output is cant open display
13:51
but even in 1 terminal screen there is big symbols and on radeon video symbols are little and nice
13:51
<alkisg>
Well instead of ./myAPP put xterm
13:52
One picture is worth a thousand of your words :)
13:52
<al-geo>
on intel i915 started app is big and ugly
13:52
<alkisg>
Big and ugly is not a good description, I can't help you that way
13:52
<al-geo>
:)
13:52
<alkisg>
Either upload a screenshot or the output of xrandr
13:53
Or both
13:58
<al-geo>
ok i get it :) it was new for me :) i run xterm and now i'l pastebin
13:59
<alkisg>
You can use this to automatically pastebin: xrandr | nc termbin.com 9999
14:00
<al-geo>
:( no internet connection in that network
14:01
<alkisg>
Haha, so you'll manually type the result?
14:01
<al-geo>
https://pastebin.com/hc8F4y9Y
14:02
nope. i copy text and with usb stick are copyng between nets :)
14:03
<alkisg>
Ouch, that will take a long time to debug then :)
14:03
<al-geo>
:(
14:03
:)
14:03
<alkisg>
Is this a thin or a fat client? Also put your /var/log/Xorg.7.log to pastebin
14:04
<al-geo>
its ok. result is important
14:04
fat client
14:07
<alkisg>
Do you mean that you get a resolution of 1024x768 and you want a higher resolution?
14:08
<al-geo>
yes. on other machines there is 1920*1080 default
14:09
<alkisg>
With the same monitors?
14:09
Which cpu model does the client have? grep model /proc/cpuinfo
14:09
And which kernel version? uname -r
14:10
<al-geo>
damn. now i will try to change monitors. :)
14:10
just a 5 minutes
14:13ricotz has left IRC (ricotz!~ricotz@ubuntu/member/ricotz, Quit: Leaving)

<al-geo>

14:15

14:16

14:17

14:17
how can i force tham to be always online?

<al-geo>
even cli reboot doesnt works. output is some squashfs error
14:20
<alkisg>
That means they lost the network connection with the server, and that doesn't come back

14:43
<alkisg>
al-geo: if you mean that your clients hang, it's usually due to bad networking
14:43
E.g. a suspend can block networking, and it won't work after resume
14:45
<DonkeyHotei>
sysctl -w net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_tcp_be_liberal=1
14:55
<al-geo>
DonkeyHotei ? where? on server? or in ltsp-shroot i386?
14:55
<DonkeyHotei>
if the router is linux, on that. otherwise, on client
14:56
on the server won't hurt, either
14:59* alkisg doesn't understand how that will help with thin client stability
15:00
<DonkeyHotei>
it can help with bad networking
