cliebow_: that's a little better
I'm having some fringe troubles w/ Firefox printing in 4.2 (FC5). Changing the number of copies has no effect, other than many times crashing FF. Printing a selection will crash the browser 9 times out of 10. Print preview crashes the browser.. Each of these produce the hall-of-mirrors effect.
I'm using CUPS. The only changes I do is set "lpoptions -d printername" at login (/etc/profile.d script) based on workstation location so that the default printer is correct.

i've never played with SAP
getting lots of calls lately for a linux based SAP client solution
I don't even know what SAP is

Does anyone else on x86_64 have troubles printing w/ Firefox when changing # of copies or printing selections?

where do ltspfs filesystems get mounted in ltsp 4.2 ?
|11:14||yhan has joined #ltsp|
who has experience with skype and ltsp ?
the ltsp filesystems should get mounted in the RAM of your server
I understand that I'll run it as local all
SBNet: what path?
they are only temporary storage for usb drives and such
i.e. /tmp/drives/FOO or /media/USERNAME/FOO or ??
if you plugged in a usb drive, you would look on your desktop for it
because with ltsp5 they get mounted on /media/USERNAME/FOO
you can check /home/USER/DESKTOP/drive
i'll have to boot mine up to tell you
i don't run ltsp 4.2.
i am developing ltsp5 and trying to document the differences.
or, confirm the diferences so that it may be documented
let me get it booted up and i'll tell you for sure
vagrantc: I think they get mounted under ~/Drives/
The icon that appear under ~/Desktop/ just points to ~/Drives/<device>
he he, mine just got booted up, slow server!
|11:20||* vagrantc struggles to come up with a name for a wiki page ...|
we need to start documenting the differences between 4.2 and 5
"The Great Wiki Tiki"
(my server was already up, just had to boot the client)

jammcq: yes! :)
awesome, and congrats
did we beat feisty?
by 2 weeks I think
well, at least by a week and a half
i was beginning to wonder :)
but you started back in the days of breezy :)
yes, well, i had *no* expectations of beating out any release except possibly feisty
though i wish i had had more time for sarge backporting

i created a new user on my lts box, if i try to login from a tin client, it says it can't
Well, first of all, what distro are you running?
And second, what, exactly does it say?
fc5 and it says authentication failed like the user doesn't exist
jammcq: "s" is Scotty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|14:12||pablo_ has joined #ltsp|
SBNet: So, have you tried logging in on the console using this new user, to see if it's set up correctly?
hi! im using ubuntu 6.06. i had a ltsp server (4.2) running perfectly until i had to made a motherboard change. now everthing seems to be working .. but.. clients say.. "no ip" i looked in daemons.log and my dhcpserver IS running and offering ltsp clients ips but.. something goes wrong after that initial offering :(
in ltspadmin everthing appears to be correctly configured
pablo_: What do your interfaces look like? CHances are you need to re-enter your mac addresses into /etc/iftab
For the interfaces on the server, I mean.
he he, my bad, the account was supposed to be public and it was pubilc
As, when you added your new motherboard , I'm assuming it changes some ethernet interfaces.
hard to tell at a high rez
if you had onboard nics!
yes . now im using other nics.. so i go to /etc/iftab and change the mac and then im ready?
Right. You'll need to figure out which nic was which in the iftab for the old mobo, then fix it for the new one.
If you've got 2 nics, you've probably got an eth2 and eth3, right?
seems like 0/1
sbalneav: yes now i have eth2 and eth3
Well, that's what it SHOULD be, but if he's still got the old nics in iftab, it will have assigned new eth numbers.
yer so smart
So what you want to do is take the macs from the new cards, and enter them in for the old eth0 and eth1
|14:22||efra has quit IRC|
|14:23||pablo_ has quit IRC|
|14:27||pablo_ has joined #ltsp|
ok iv commented out eth0 and eth1 in /etc/iftab.. added the newly installed eth2 and eth3 whit its corresponding macs i rebooted the machine... and... clients still say.. "no ip" :(
ok, can you paste the output of "ifconfig -a" and your iftab to the pastebot?
sbalneav: "pastebot" is The LTSP pastebot is at http://pastebot.ltsp.org. Please paste all text longer than a line or two to the pastebot, as it helps to reduce traffic in the channel. A link to the content will be pasted in the channel.
"pablo_" pasted "iftab" (8 lines) at http://pastebot.ltsp.org/89
"pablo_" pasted "ifconfig -a" (35 lines) at http://pastebot.ltsp.org/90
no, see, you want to use those macs with eth0 and eth1
So change the "eth2" and "eth3" in your iftab to "eth0" and "eth1"
sbalneav: ok.. remember that ive configured interfaces as eth2 and eth3, and ivalso configured ltsp to use eth3 as the interface to the clients...
should i change it anyway?
Well, you didn't tell me that before.
yes its true
i didnt tell you that before :(
have you set anything in /etc/default/dhcp3-server to tell it what interface to listen to?
yes i did i put INTERFACES="eth3"
What distro are you on?
using ltsp 4.2
What does /var/log/daemon.log tell you?
Any messages from dhcp3-server?
|14:40||sep has quit IRC|
"pablo_" pasted "/var/log/daemon.log" (3 lines) at http://pastebot.ltsp.org/91
yes... dhcp server tries to give ip to a ltsp client
but... inmidiatly after that..
nothing happens.. and client says.. "no ip"
at first i thought that dhcp was not well configured... but..loking in daemons.log.. you can see its workin and offering ips! :(
why do clients say no ip... ?
Then I'd say you've got some kind of networking problem.
Check your wiring and switches.
