vagrantc, meh, ok, I imagine that eventually, in the year 123456890123456890, humanity will get tired of typing very long dates, and realize that both versions and dates need some kind of overflow loop, and simplify them to the last 3 digits or something, and only mention the most significant digits (the "epoch") when absolutely necessary...
07:11
:P
07:13
Actually on second thought, I kind of like having the full year in the version; there are many people that don't realize that Ubuntu 18.04 actually means 2018 there
07:16
"Which LTSP version do you have?" LTSP 2019.09. Very clear. And it can include a day too if needed, e.g. 2019.09.09, or even a second release within the same day, 2019.09.09.2. I'm sold!

07:17
<alkisg>
Finally, "maintenance" versions, e.g. to fix a grave bug or security flow in an older ltsp version, could use "-", for example 2019.09-3.
07:19* alkisg wonders if that conflicts with the debian package versioning, e.g. 2019.09-3-1.1, where 1.1 would be the debian version...
07:20
<alkisg>
Debian policy: The upstream_version may contain only alphanumerics[36] and the characters "." (full stop), "+" (plus), "-" (hyphen), ":" (colon), "~" (tilde) and should start with a digit. If there is no debian_revision then hyphens are not allowed;
07:20
OK, then we can use "+" instead of "-", i.e. upstream LTSP 2019.09+3, and debian package 2019.09+3-1.1. Great.

Bas_: you can ask here for either ltsp or epoptes issues/questions/bugs
07:38
OK let's start using the new wiki...
07:38
!learn versioning as https://github.com/ltsp/ltsp/wiki/versioning
07:38
<ltsp>
The operation succeeded.

Since I just updated PPA sources for epoptes: ver 1.0.X is only available at github zips?
08:40
<jim_katsar>
https://termbin.com/0s20
08:41
(after tftp initrd / symlink lib / mount fat)
08:41
<alkisg>
Basinator: it's available for all recent ubuntu and debian versions
08:41
It's not available for ubuntu 14.04; it's EOLed now
08:42

08:43
<Basinator>
I wanto set up a new ubuntu LTSP anyways, can test then whether a certain bug is still there.
08:43
<alkisg>
Basinator: what bug?
08:43
<Basinator>
The EOL is the main reason to move away from Edubuntu
08:43
<jim_katsar>

08:43
<Basinator>
Wrote in PM, on that 0.5 epoptes, when I doubleclick at a client in epoptes
08:43
I see the screen but cannot control anything
08:44
if using the button for controlling a client instead, it works.
08:44
But as I wrote, I am on a pretty outdated version of epoptes.
08:45
Is there any other ubuntu or linux distro with a pre-configured LTSP?
08:47
<alkisg>
Basinator: double click is "monitor=view", while the button is "control"
08:47
It's a different action, see the full menu or the help for explanation
08:47
<Basinator>
I see. But honestly? Is it really intuitive?
08:47
<alkisg>
No, it's not, but it's practical :)
08:47
<Basinator>
As in: Is it what the user of the program is expecting to happen?
08:47
<alkisg>
And documented
08:48
!epoptes-bug
08:48
<ltsp>
Error: "epoptes-bug" is not a valid command.
08:48
<Basinator>
I think there is no menu button for control
08:48
<alkisg>
Sure there is, it's called "session"
08:48
<Basinator>
context menu I mean
08:48
my bad
08:48
out of memory though
08:51
Then see it as my feedback instead; and if it might be worth considering swapping the default action if this is what users of the app expect.

I wouldn't want to accidentally take control of of someone's session

I'd rather "accidentally" view it
12:21
at least in my environment
