I have a little problem. I 'm running Ubuntu and I'm trying to build a client image for arm. I tried using a Debian mirror with --dist wheezy but it fails after debootstrap because somehow it doesn't install "locales" (locale-gen is not found). so, I tried using --early-packages
09:58
turns out "early" still means after locales (locales is /usr/share/ltsp/plugins/ltsp-build-client/Ubuntu/025-locales and early-packages is 030-...
09:58
so I symlinked this to 024 but that doesn't change anything :/
09:59
<ogra_>
do you have qemu-user-static installed and properly set up ?
09:59
else the script wont be able to chroot

<yalu>
it does chroot. de error it gives is clearly: chroot: failed to run command `locale-gen`: No such file or directory - and indeed, it isn't there

I have found a workaround. either creating the image on Debian itsels, or creating a file /etc/sysconfig/ltspdist containing the word "Debian"

Hello all, I need some help about LTSP : My LTSP server is different from my DHCP server. I was able to specify NBD server thanks to nbdroot parameter but it fails to login. How to specify the login server ? Please PM me.

how do people normally use arm-based thin clients? Can they, as a general rule, be booted remotely?

yalu, PXE boot is a protocol support by network cards, not by CPU.
20:33
*supported
20:34
So if network card supports PXE, booting from network is possible. Regardless of what CPU you have.
20:34
Of course your network boot image will need to support your CPU architecture, but that's a different story.
20:39
<yalu>
off course
20:41
the problem I am facing right now is: I have built a ltsp client image using debian's repositories and the armel architecture but I can't test it. I only have one arm machine which is a Raspberry PI. It doesn't boot the "versatile" flavor of the debian kernel image for armel
20:43
haven't found if there is an emulator like qemu with pxe support

<vagrantc>
yalu: there's no PXE support for raspberry pi
20:54
<yalu>
I know, it simply doesn't do that :) I tried putting debian's kernel on a raspbian sd card though. it gives you some pretty colorful gradients and no console messages
20:57
<vagrantc>
you could use the kernel from raspbian
