There was a hinkey workaround for getting chromium-browser to work as a localapp by editing /usr/share/applications/chromium-browser.desktop every freaking time chrome was updated. Those fixes do not seem to work with unity. The symptom is that Chrome (on the thin client) simply dies without so much as log entry or complaint..
