brand new
17:21
Did a clean install of Debian 9.3 amd64 into a VirtualBox
17:21
did everything up to http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/Ltsp-manager/Installation
17:22
starting my thin-client (virtual-box pxe-machine) gives me "error: socket failed: connection refused"
17:23
dev/ndb0 does not exist
17:24
anyone able to give a little support?

With LTSP and LDAP, when a user logs in for the first time, no 'login' keyring is created. Is this usual and can I change that?

SmashK2: you have an amd64 chroot, so you'd need to test with amd64 on the client
19:01
nbd-client 192.168.67.1 -N /opt/ltsp/amd64 /dev/nbd0

but put your server ip there instead

<alkisg>
SmashK2: try rebooting the client
19:06
OK, it booted
19:06
Now i'll switch to helping jp_
19:07
<SmashK2>
Thx alot, whatever you did there, it works :D
19:07
<alkisg>
I changed ipappend 2 to 3
19:07
You didn't do the initial setup step in time
19:07
<SmashK2>
looked kinda chinese-backward to me
19:07
<alkisg>
You did it later on
19:07
jp_: you have kde... I'm not sure that plays well over the network

<jp_>
it seems to have run further today ... and now it is stuck on a blank screen
19:16
<alkisg>
Unfortnately I can't see the client yet at that point
19:16
And there's no virtualbox for armhf chroots to test
19:16
I could test with a virtual client for your amd64 chroot, but I'm not sure how much that would help
19:17
<jp_>
is nbd-server.allow needed ? bcos there doesn't exist any such file on my system
19:17
<alkisg>
No, it's not needed, and don't create it, because THEN it'll cause issues
19:18
<jp_>
i see.
19:18
<alkisg>
The logs say that the client successfully mounted nbd
19:18
So it's past that point
19:18
Feb 27 00:43:33 xanadu-i535 nbd_server[4294]: connect from 192.168.1.33, assigned file is /opt/ltsp/images/armhf.img
19:19
<jp_>
btw, I have a LAN-WAN connection between the 2 machines (i.e., LAN output from my primary router connects to the WAN port of the secondary router)
19:20
whcih means, I can ping from the client to the server, but not from the server to the client. If that can cause any issue ?
19:20lucascastro has left IRC (lucascastro!~lucas@201.182.221.154, Remote host closed the connection)
19:21
<jp_>
Thhough, I can easily ssh from any machine on the secondary router to the kubuntu (which is directly on my primary router)
19:22
<alkisg>
At the point where it hanged, I can only imagine that the chroot is somehow broken
19:22
I.e. after it loads nbd, and before you get a login screen, there are not networking issues involved
19:22
And you appear to have epoptes-client properly configured, so we should be seeing the client even if it had xorg issues
19:23
<jp_>
ok. then should I rebuild the client SD card again and try ? will that help ?
19:23
<alkisg>
The sd card should be ok, since it booted that far...
19:24
I don't know what to suggest at this point, I'd do it all from the start and check for errors at all times...
19:24
<jp_>
ok. btw, what exact fix did you do till this stage ?
19:25
I did notice that you copied the amd64 image ....but what exactly was I doing incorrect ?
19:26
<alkisg>
I copied the configuration file, because ltsp-config nbd-server didn't work for you
19:26
I didn't take the time to troubleshoot why it didn't work for you
19:26
It's not the image, it's only the config
19:27
<jp_>
ok ...
19:27
so, basically you replaced the armhf config with the amd64. Right ?
19:28
<alkisg>
I copied /etc/nbd-server/conf.d/ltsp_amd64.conf to /etc/nbd-server/conf.d/ltsp_armhf.conf , and adjusted it
19:30
<jp_>
ok, let me try going over the client side messages and try and understand if I get anything worthwhile there.
19:30
Will get back to you (perhaps) tomorrow ....
19:31
Thanks for the excellent help so far Alkis ! Will let you know how it goes further ...
19:32
<SmashK>
one question: If I put \\192.168.67.1 (IP of LTSP-Server in Vbox-machine) into host-Windows' Explorer than it shows me the shared folders of the host, not of the server
19:32
its mirroring the windows-shares onto the guests-IP ???
19:34
wanted to install samba into the LTSP-Server but before I took a look into the already available shares
19:34
kinda confused
19:36
a, no need to install samba, its already there
19:39
<jp_>
Alkis: What did you run to see the server (or, was it the client) output ?
19:39
<SmashK>
short brk, reallife calls :D
19:40
damn reallife ;)
19:42
