ogra, hi! Trying to netboot rpi4 without an initramfs (nfsroot=xx, root=/dev/nfs), I'm getting: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(2,0); isn't is possible to netboot without an initramfs?
08:24
It's getting an IP, mounting the NFS share... and then panics, like it doesn't have a /root mount point or something...
08:25
(it boots fine with an initramfs; just trying to see if I can do without it)
08:29
<meo>
alkisg: uh, missing udev?
08:30
<alkisg>
meo: hmm, possibly, was is supposed to be compiled inside the kernel for this to work?
08:31
<meo>
I dont know, I am just assuming that /dev/nfs doesn't exist
08:32
<alkisg>
I don't see any references about putting udev in the kernel... I think this goes in the initramfs, if one is used
08:33
<meo>
wait.. is this from grub?
08:34
<alkisg>
meo: no, raspberry pi loads the GPU first, then some embedded rom, and finally kernel8.img
08:34
There's no "usual" boot manager involved
08:34
<meo>
oh okay then I probably should shut up..

We are testing ltsp19 and have a few test images under /srv/ltsp/images we want to remove. So when the user boot his client it is removed from the iPXE boot menu
09:30
<alkisg>
ltsp_user25: ok, you just delete them and run ltsp -o ipxe
09:30
...to regenerate the ipxe menu
09:37
OK rpi4 netbooted fine over ltsp19; except for the display manager, checking why...
09:38
Ah they did something silly that lost networking

Good afternoon ppl.
18:24
Where is it located the repo for ltsp ?
18:25
<alkisg>
!source
18:25
<ltsp>
My source is at http://supybot.com/
18:25
<alkisg>
Nope
18:25
!ltsp-source
18:25
<ltsp>
ltsp-source: https://github.com/ltsp/ltsp/
18:25
<alkisg>
This one
18:26
Ah, the PPA?
18:26
!ppa
18:26
<ltsp>
ppa: https://github.com/ltsp/ltsp/wiki/ppa describes how Debian and Ubuntu users may add the upstream LTSP PPA to their sources, to be able to install LTSP
18:36
<bluejaypop>
:D
18:36
oh i see you've got 2 releases already.
18:37
<alkisg>
Maybe like 10 releases :D

But the old ones get deleted automatically
18:37
Douglas-BR: so are you planning to use that q4os distribution?
18:38
<bluejaypop>
i see
18:39
v19.09 latest
18:39
<alkisg>
Yeah, no released yet in October, but I'll get one out soon
18:39
I just added initial support for rpi4
18:40adrianorg has left IRC (adrianorg!~adrianorg@179.179.75.120, Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
18:40
<Douglas-BR>
Yes, but after your consideration, I think big distros is better choice. I think Q4os was a good support and works well for ltsp server. It stay very well to run on my old clients
18:41
<alkisg>
Douglas-BR: I'm not sure what that answer meant... so are you going to use q4os, or are you going to switch to vanilla debian/ubuntu?
18:41
<bluejaypop>
ok, sounds good to me. I found some cards which are very good to try, like the pine64.
18:42
https://www.pine64.org/devices/single-board-computers/pine-a64-lts/
18:43
<alkisg>
bluejaypop: sure; but keep in mind that ltsp mostly supports the big distributions/architectures etc; for the more uncommon ones, users should be able to send patches
18:44
<bluejaypop>
yes, i think they have support because it comes with linux distro support.
18:44
<alkisg>
LTSP supports about 10% of linux distributions :)
18:44
There are thousands out there :D
18:44
<Douglas-BR>
I am test many "thin" distros and seems q4os stay good to run, but there are 2 problems
18:45
<alkisg>
Douglas-BR: anyway, if you want remote support to solve the problem, do this step:
18:45
!vnc-edide
18:45
<ltsp>
vnc-edide: To share your screen with me, open Epoptes → Help menu → Remote support → Host: srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr, and click the Connect button
18:46
<bluejaypop>
oh, nice.
18:50
<alkisg>
Douglas-BR: boot a client
18:50
dnsmasq appears to be working fine
18:51
Although you haven't configured the proxy range, if you want proxy
18:52
I.e. when you're running `ltsp -o dnsmasq`, you should have the networks already connected
18:56
Douglas-BR: so which part isn't working?
18:56
<Douglas-BR>
the client do not login
18:56
<alkisg>
Isn't it logged in now?
18:57
<Douglas-BR>
it login automatic with user ltspserver
18:57
should be other and ask
18:58
<alkisg>
Ah, it has a "trinity/tdm" display manager
18:58
<Douglas-BR>
it no ask, simply logon
18:58
pyes
18:58
yes
18:59
and the user ltspserver no navigate on internet
19:00
<alkisg>
Autologin is defined in /etc/trinity/tdm/tdmrc
19:00
You need to put code or ltsp.conf parameters to disable autologin from there
19:01
<Douglas-BR>
right
19:08
<alkisg>
This fixes autologin: PRE_INIT_FIX_TDM="sed '/^Auto/d' -i /etc/trinity/tdm/tdmrc"
19:08
Installing iptables fixed internet
19:08
And, you also needed an ltsp.conf with NAT=1
19:10
So all OK now?
19:12
<Douglas-BR>
I think yes Alkis
19:13
<alkisg>
Great
