IRC chat logs for #ltsp on irc.libera.chat (webchat)

Channel log from 18 February 2007   (all times are UTC)

00:22* vagrantc struggles with figuring out how to sanely handle the various combinations of local, remote and local+remote syslogging
00:34
<vagrantc>
maybe SYSLOG=remote (or empty) treat it as it is treated now ... which leaves the door open for SYSLOG=local causing it to read whatever file is configured.
00:35
the way it is handled now, is it blindly configures for only remote syslogging, which is a decent default (saves memory) but not very flexible.
00:44* vagrantc looks for a comprehensive list of lts.conf variables

I have two quick questions here.
14:08
1) where do I set the login screen that ltsp uses? I set it in the administration panel, but it's not using the one I set for remote login.
14:09
2) isn't there a gnome default in the config somewhere that limits the number of possible logins at one time? And shouldn't I change that to some very large number to allo9w for all my people to login?

mistik1: all the modular X drivers now install files to /usr/share/hwdata, which it uses
16:49
<mistik1>
bah masked
16:50
Well What I had going here used hwdata to discover the devices but I was scripting to provide the custom options from lts.conf
16:51
Do you know if s-c-d supports dual head configs?
16:59
<dberkholz>
mistik1: masked? shouldn't be ... maybe ~arch
16:59
mistik1: mm, i think it's supposed to. i can't test how well it works
17:01
<mistik1>
dberkholz: I think it it would work just as nicely with what i'm doing here when we get a chance to test it
17:02
Everything I do for the custom options is done after the file is generated so it will patch in fine
17:02
<dberkholz>
mistik1: sure, it's just a question of how much gentoo actually has to support stuff, versus letting someone else take care of it
17:03
we basically maintain our own hwdata database now, hwdata-gentoo, which mkxf86config uses
17:03
so if it's out of date, then ltsp won't work right
17:03
but system-config-display and the hwdata files for it are hopefully kept nicely up to date by red hat

<mistik1>
understood

they also need to be imported into gentoo regularly, but since that isn't as much work, it theoretically should be easier
