<nf1>
Hi, i installed LTSP5 in debian sid. The client boots, it loads the LDM but I can't login. I type the user & password but then I got a black screen and after a few seconds the LDM login screen appears again.
04:23
somebody got the same problem, or know what may be the problem?
04:24
I modified the lts.conf (added SCREEN_07 = startx) and the client now gets KDM and I can login in the system but with KDM
04:40
<sep>
nf1, sounds like wrong user/password or missing or to few rights in homedir, or no ssh access to the server.
04:40
LDM uses ssh tunnel
04:40
to protect passwords typed into the X session.
04:40
and it can also be used to run things on the client. ltspfs is the best example
04:42
<nf1>
It's not wrong passwords. I thought that it could be an SSH port issue, because openssh was running on different port, but I configured it to run on port 22 and the problem still persist
04:46
<sep>
nf1, just try ssh to the server on that user/pass and see
04:47
<nf1>
I can login with ssh with that user
04:50
<sep>
then i dont know.
04:50
works for me with ldm
04:51
<nf1>
10x for the try

<DaveQB>
i know what a chroot is, just didnt know how it related to ltsp
06:05
cool you can use NFS for homes hey ?
06:05
but just the install of libs etc with no user data is no bigger then 500MB's hey ?
06:05
I have 1.8GB on my / partition
06:05
just trying to decide on what partition to install this on, on my server
06:06
<cliebow_>
the guts of ltsp is in there..yes you can..but remember ltsp is really just a picture of the servers desktop
06:06
default is /opt/ltsp/i386
06:06
<DaveQB>
yeah
06:06
so it releies on the servers libs ? the servers X server it uses ?
06:06* DaveQB doesnt have X server on his server
06:06
<cliebow_>
so your home is there..unless you are using localapps
06:07
you will need x on your server..on A server
06:07
<DaveQB>
oh, cant point homes else where in the configs ?
06:07
hmmmm
06:07
bugger
06:07
<cliebow_>
unless you are going to use just a terminal shell
06:08
you can point to any server runing x

kaminski-ltsp-br, anything that uses the rdp server of windows uses the TS lisences

09:07
jammcq: when LTSP 5 was officially release?
09:08
jammcq: I saw it as available for download on the page but there's no date of release there. I'm writting an article about it for a magazine here of Brazil and would like to put it there
09:09
<jammcq>
otavio: well, that's a hard question, cuz it's not really "officially released". We put those tarballs up there last saturday
09:10
<otavio>

09:10

well, it's as good as any, I suppose

antgel, 4.2 uses /tftpboot
11:15
muecow cant handle that
11:15
<antgel>
ogra_: i'm using /var/lib/tftpboot
11:15
<ogra_>
since it breaks FHS and debian policy
11:15
bricode, yes
11:16
bricode, since a week or so
11:16
<antgel>
i'm so pissed off, this was working all day
11:16
ogra_: i didn't use ltspadmin to alter tftp params, just to generate a new dhcpd.conf
11:16
which is in the pastebin

my prob is nfs?
11:19
<ogra_>
antgel, well, there is a bug open in debian about adding a package conflict between ltsp-server and ltsp-utils because nobody ever really tested what all breaks if you use them together
11:19
<antgel>
ogra_: ack. does my dhcpd.conf look sane?
11:19
<Gadi>
shah: are you and antgel related? ;)
11:19

in ubuntu ltsp-utils was removeds from the archive in edgy already

antgel: make sure you dont have a conflicting dhcp server on the same subnet
11:20
<ogra_>
right
11:20
<Gadi>
if you do, you can get nfs errors
11:20
<ogra_>
Gadi beats me :)
11:20
<antgel>
nah, it's just the one

thats how our muecow default file looks like
11:22
just replace the IP data

its booting
11:24
<antgel>
ogra_: is that normal during boot?
11:24
<shah>
showmount ok
11:24

11:24

but when cek ltspadmin
