lol
16:44
but other than that, it is awesome

yes, while ago.. you even told me what project you were using to easily implement directory server

dude, i have the memory of a dinasaur

it was FusionDirectory, and I guess they are working on a new version as well to help manage LTSP from within the LDAP directory
16:45
<andygraybeal>
yes yes fusion.
16:45
<matrix3000>
I don't know how exactly but it would be cool to see
16:45
<andygraybeal>
aah nice, ltsp with ldap.. yes.
16:46
<matrix3000>
he was saying being able to choose and specify which pc's use which ltsp servers
16:46
and which boot images
16:46
but, ha, im scared to even try it
16:47
im just sticking with ldap for user authentication for now
16:48
hell, im eager for the new version of LTSP that is being worked on
16:48
is it ltsp6?
16:48
or just LTSP5. something

in /lib/modules/(mykernel)/kernel/drivers/video

17:08
<Matrix3000-Home>
like right at PXE boot right?
17:08
when it first grabs the image
17:08
<vagrantc>
probably from the initramfs
17:08
<Matrix3000-Home>
from my understanding
17:08

hi, not ltsp related, but I'm trying to dual boot some teacher's PC, and I often troubles
21:57
the last is: Laptop that was born with vista, a teacher added XP (and now boots only with XP)
21:57
XP sees 4 partitions
21:57
gparted can't read the partition table!!!
21:57
<Hyperbyte>
markit, which distro?
21:57
<markit>
so I can't remove XP
21:58
Hyperbyte: I'm going to install kubuntu, since they have it at school, 11.04
21:58
but the problmes is at the beginning stage... can't remove XP partitions with gparted, sigh
21:58
<Hyperbyte>
markit, then (and I'm not saying this because I wanna get rid of you), I suggest you ask in #ubuntu
21:58
AFAIK, you don't have to. Ubuntu installer asks you about partitioning during install if memory serves.
21:59
<markit>
Hyperbyte: is a general question, I'm not even using ubuntu but gparted
21:59
Hyperbyte: I know, but I'm pretty sure it will not be able to read it too... but let's try
21:59
since now, gparted has never failed
21:59
seems like this issue: http://askubuntu.com/questions/29477/ubuntu-cannot-see-windows-7-partitions-on-install
21:59

Either way, I'm not suggesting you go over to #ubuntu because I think this is Ubuntu related per say, but because there's much more people there, and you can get much better help for general things like this there.
22:00
<markit>
but can't be otherwise XP would not boot, so I'm confused
22:00
Hyperbyte: I see :)
22:00

There are 53 people here... 1570 in #ubuntu :)

andygraybeal, how much am I off?
22:03

<andygraybeal>
i wish i could simply answer to people, yes your problem is windows (insert version number). please get rid of it.
22:03
Hyperbyte, i'm just being stupid. this channel of course has more attendance than #ubuntu.
22:03
<Hyperbyte>
Although it's 1571, now that markit joined. :)

<vagrantc>
alkisg: did you want to switch to ssvnc, or just stick with xvnc4viewer?
22:11
<alkisg>
vagrantc: if it works better for you 24bpp card, then no problem from me
22:11
They both have the same functionality
22:11
xvnc4viewer needs a bit less ram
22:11
*your
22:12
<vagrantc>
ah, i didn't notice you had made mmore commits
22:12
<alkisg>
Lots :)
22:12
Especially the newly discovered "x-server-side scaling" is quite significant
22:12
<vagrantc>
cool
22:12
i only tested with a single client
22:30
<lifeboy_>
vagrantc: I have done a lot of testing and searching, but I cannot find AUFS mentioned in the config file, not elsewhere. Where does this come in and how do I get support for it into the kernel?
22:42
Does anyone know how aufs is use in LTSP? I see it's the replacement unionfs in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS live CD, but there's not package aufs-modules-2.6 or similar in Ubunti 10.04.
22:43
ga, sorry for my poor typing. It's way past midnight here...
22:43
<alkisg>
What are you trying to do?
22:44
<lifeboy_>
alkisg: I'm still sorting out Ubuntu LTSP on my vortex client. vagrantc helped me troubleshoot earlier and we found that aufs or unionfs is not mounted in the client
22:45
<alkisg>
Wow, you'd buy 100 other clients with all the time you invested on this :)
22:46
<lifeboy_>
That's ok! Once I've got it all figured out, it will be worth it for large new installations... :-)
22:47
and if I'd bought the clients I would have learning nothing! ;-P
22:47
<alkisg>
So you have nbd properly mounted, and the problem is aufs?
22:47
<lifeboy_>
yes, nbd is there, but not aufs
22:47
<alkisg>
Then why did nbd-client failed when you tried it in the break=mount step?
22:47
<lifeboy_>
problem is I don't see aufs in the .config file
22:48
after switching to ubuntu, not xlinux anymore the nbd problem went away
22:49
So I'm using stock standard Ubuntu 10.04 now
22:49
<alkisg>
I think we were testing a couple of weeks ago, and with ubuntu 10.04 you tried break=mount, and I told you to run nbd-client to mount the disk, and that part suceeded,
22:49
but ls /mnt failed
22:49
That indicated a broken nbd module in your ubuntu 10.04
22:49
Has that changed?
22:50
(nbd or network driver or something)
22:50
<lifeboy_>
No, that was not with Ubuntu, it was with the vortex86 linux (xlinux) distro
22:51
<alkisg>
I'm pretty sure it was with Ubuntu, because I was telling you instructions to test inside the ubuntu initramfs
22:51
You can test again if you want
22:51
Just put break=mount in your pxelinux.cfg/default
22:51
Then run nbd-client server-ip 2000 /dev/nbd0
22:51
Then mount -o loop /dev/nbd0 /mnt
22:51
And then ls /mnt
22:51andygraybeal has left IRC (andygraybeal!~andy.gray@obsidian.casanueva.com, Quit: Ex-Chat)
22:51
<alkisg>
If that works, your nbd module and network card is fine
22:52
<lifeboy_>
Ubuntu has a r6040 ethernet driver, but its not compiled by default. Yes, it's from an Ubuntu server, but nbd mounts fine
22:52
<alkisg>
And then your run the aufs command?
22:52
And it says what, module not found?
22:52
Try it up to there, and continue with tmpfs+aufs
22:53
<lifeboy_>
I get dropped to busybox and then, if I type aufs, it's says "not found"
22:53
<alkisg>
There's no aufs executable
22:53
Try what I said above, and I'll tell you the next commands after that.
22:54
<lifeboy_>
which is why I asked where aufs comes from, ie how to I get it into Ubuntu
22:54
<alkisg>
The command is called "mount"
22:54
mount -t aufs -o dirs=/cow=rw:/rofs=ro aufs ${rootmnt}
22:54
If you want help, do what I said above, and we'll continue after the nbd mounting
22:57
<lifeboy_>
I doing it, it just takes time, since I can't cut and paste from the client! :-)
23:00
nbd-client 172.16.0.1 2000 /dev/nbd0 says: Negotiation: ..size = 5502956KB (newline) bs=1024, sz=5502956
23:00
mount shows the /dev/bnd0 mounted on /root/rofs type tmpfs
23:01
that's /dev/nbd0, sorry
23:01
<alkisg>
Did you put break=mount ?
23:01
In pxelinux.cfg/default?
23:12alkisg has left IRC (alkisg!~alkisg@ubuntu/member/alkisg, Quit: Leaving.)
23:30
<lifeboy_>
alkisg: before I get the break=mount (at least so it seems) on the client, I get dropped to a busybox shell. Here are the results: http://pastebin.com/j82mH9qA
