Anyway to get the new LTSP to autologin?
Seems to fill in the Login/Password because all we have to do is click "Login". But we have to actually click "Login". The old version just bypassed all that.

Ginks: which dm? lightdm?
Login to the client, open a terminal, and paste the output of this command: grep -r . /etc/*dm* | nc termbin.com 9999
This will tell us the resulting lightdm configuration

Ginks, which Ubuntu version is this, 16.04?
Ginks: do two tests: (1) `sudo systemctl restart lightdm` on the client, does it autologin? You can run it via epoptes
If it doesn't, remove this line: /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf:autologin-user-timeout=2
And try `sudo systemctl restart lightdm` again

|16:04||* alkisg doesn't have /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf in 20.04|
alkisg, 'sudo systemctl restart lightdm' on the client works. It goes right back to their desktop
OK just a problem with relogin timeout then, it's a known bug of lightdm
It's Ubuntu Mate 18 upgraded to 20
Yes, mate here too, it replaced gtk-greeter with slick-greeter in 18.04
So yours is probably updated from 16.04
Yeah, it might be actually
Last version I remember was 18
But it's been installed for years
Slick greeter work better?
I could care less what greeter there is since really I would prefer them to not have to interact with it anyways
An "lightdm-autologin-greeter" exists,which would work best, it should be very easy to setup, but noone has spent time to document it,
slick might work a bit better than gtk-greeter, but only marginally,
now try this (moment):
In ltsp.conf, then ltsp initrd, then reboot client
can RELOGIN_TIMEOUT=0 be placed under [server] or should it go under the mac of the client?
Or even under [clients] ?
Perfect, just put it under [clients] and mass rebooted and they all came up and logged in on their own.
!learn relogin as If AUTOLOGIN doesn't work for you, try RELOGIN_TIMEOUT=0 under [clients] in ltsp.conf
The operation succeeded.
Ginks: if you logout now, does it relogin?
|16:22||* alkisg guesses no...|
In that case, also try RELOGIN_TIMEOUT=5, this autologs in after 5 secs, but it should also work after logout. It's a lightdm bug, but noone cared enough to get it fixed...
Yeah, you're right.
I'll try that
