vagrantc: heya; ltsp was unblocked in both bullseye and focal; I uploaded a new version; in a week or so, after it receives a bit of testing, if you want you can upload it to testing...

And I think I managed to do a signed tagging... :D
17:31
<vagrantc>
i saw, cool!
17:31
oooh!
17:32
alkisg: you might need to "git push --tags"

* [new tag] v19.12 -> v19.12
17:33
! [rejected] v19.11 -> v19.11 (already exists)
17:33
I guess that's good enough :D
17:33
<vagrantc>
which for some projects, i configured it to always push tags present in the current branch ... though i try to do that on a per-project basis
17:33
<alkisg>
I think I also tagged v19.11 and never pushed it, and you did instead
17:33
<vagrantc>
alkisg: looks like i tagged v19.11
17:33
right

17:44* alkisg wonders if the binary packages like ltsp-client-core etc will be automatically removed from unstable or if another ftp master ping will be needed
17:45
<alkisg>
https://packages.debian.org/ltsp => testing is OK, but unstable isn't
17:45
Hmm strange the server packages were removed, but not the client ones
17:46
Also maybe ltspfs should get removed too.. and maybe ldm as well
17:47
<vagrantc>
yeah, i'll switch the orphan bugs into a removal bug at some point end-of-year-ish

Hello. How can I troubleshoot LTSP19 on Ubuntu with clients that do not have internet access? I can ping the client from the server and the server from the client. This is a 2-nic setup

<Patw>
Nevermind. For those looking at archives later, I created the lts.conf, set nat=1, restarted the ltsp service on the server.

Patw, did you set NAT=1 in ltsp.conf and rebooted the server?
18:43
<Patw>
Yes
18:47
<alkisg_android>
Can you pastebin your ltsp.conf?
18:48
Btw can clients ping 8.8.8.8?

19:19
This is supposed to show that ^ if NAT is enabled
19:20
vagrantc: ltsp-client-core isn't related to the orphaning though, right?
19:21
<vagrantc>
alkisg: no, those might be decrufted at some point
19:21* alkisg asks in #debian-release...
19:22
<vagrantc>
alkisg: are you worried about them hanging around
19:23
<alkisg>
vagrantc: I'm just trying to do "our" part of the related tasks... e.g. in #ubuntu-devel they told me that if I hadn't pinged them, ltsp would never migrate from proposed to focal
19:30
Ah it's debports, not main unstable

<paradoxewan>
Hi there
19:57
<alkisg>
Hello
19:57
<paradoxewan>
nice to meet you all :)
19:58
found you through the epoptes application
19:58
Can anyone tell me how to change the configuration for the VNC client inside epoptes to use the second screen on a client
19:58
<alkisg>
How would you do it from the command line?
19:59
<paradoxewan>
id assume changing 0 to 1
19:59
<alkisg>
Is it a different display, or just a different monitor?
19:59
Is it just a dual screen pc?
19:59
<paradoxewan>
secondary output on raspberry pi
19:59
<alkisg>
With a single user?
19:59
OK
20:00
And that's for the epoptes "teacher" broadcasting function?
20:00
<paradoxewan>
yes single user, i have a few deployed for digital signage and this might be a great way to monitor them]
20:00
<alkisg>
Then that's for the teacher monitoring function?
20:00
<paradoxewan>
yes thats correct
20:00
<alkisg>
Can I see?
20:00
!vnc-edide
20:00
<ltspbot>
vnc-edide: To share your screen with me, open Epoptes → Help menu → Remote support → Host: srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr, and click the Connect button
20:04
<alkisg>
paradoxewan: so YOU have a dual screen and you want VNC to open in YOUR second monitor?
20:04
<paradoxewan>
no
20:04
kilmarnock screen should be showing the content its playing
20:04
its live on a remote site
20:04
<alkisg>
There's no root connection there, that client has issues
20:06
Also, xrandr doesn't list 2 monitors for that client
20:06
<paradoxewan>
ok perhaps its on a single monitor setup at the moment im not on site
20:06
but it is showing content
20:07
<alkisg>
The only dual screen I see is your own
20:07
Both your clients seem single screen
20:07
<paradoxewan>
ok, so lets assume the client is a single screen, is there a reason i can see content on one and not the other, they are both the same operating system
20:07
<alkisg>
Yes
20:07
ps aux|grep epoptes-client
20:07
This should show TWO processes
20:07
One for the user, one for root
20:08
In the second client, there's no root epoptes-client process
20:08
<paradoxewan>
ok, waht would cause that
20:08
<alkisg>
The best way forward is to update your epoptes-client to 1.x from the PPA
20:09
<paradoxewan>
ok, looks like i might need to do a bit more reading on this then.
20:09
<alkisg>
I.e. just install a newer epoptes-client
20:09
You have a very old one
20:09
<paradoxewan>
It could be the perfect tool for me monitoring these sites remote
20:11
thank you for your time, thats really helped. Im fairly new to the linux world
20:13
<alkisg>
You're welcome
20:16
<paradoxewan>
is there a simple upgrade path on rasp-pi?
20:27
<alkisg>
cd /tmp; wget https://code.launchpad.net/~epoptes/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+files/epoptes_1.0.1-2+t201911250838~ubuntu16.04.1_all.deb; apt install ./epoptes*.deb
20:32
Sorry that one is for epoptes
20:32
wget https://code.launchpad.net/~epoptes/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+files/epoptes-client_1.0.1-2+t201911250838~ubuntu16.04.1_all.deb
20:32
This is the correct one
20:33
<paradoxewan>
thats amazing, ive learned at least three different things from that one command lol.
20:33
<alkisg>
You're a fast learner then :)

ok, so installed the update, and rebooted the client and i seem to have lost it
20:41
the second client (not updated yet) is still showing black screen

<paradoxewan>
ive got it working :) at least on the client i updated
21:03
<alkisg>
Nice
21:03
<paradoxewan>
this is actually brilliant. The units im looking at are 20 miles and 50 miles away from me. I have the networked via zerotier, so its all on its own little self contained vpn and i now have a screen where i can monitor these and interact with them remote. Thank you for your time. We i get a chance ill look at the source for this and see if there is
21:03
anything we can contribute in the future. Its a brilliant tool
21:05
The only think i have to figure out now, is one of the units is a large outside LED screen. The way the content renders it is only using the top left corner of the desktop display (so imagine a little box in the top left of full desktop)
21:06
i dont know if its possible to get vnc to only send back a portion of the screen, so that this displays "full" on epoptes
21:07
<alkisg>
The realvnc vnc viewer supports scaling
21:07
You'll need to install that one in your epoptes pc
21:08
I have some tasks for potential contributors in https://epoptes.org/documentation/gsoc/
21:11
<paradoxewan>
ok, will have a look. I have limited experience in webrtc, but im from a osx background and learning linux as fast as i can at the moment
21:16
<alkisg>
Bed calls me; 'night all :)
21:16
<paradoxewan>
