What problem? Is it the NBD proxy that's causing you a difficulty?
12:47
You can do that, or just use NFS

We're here at the LTSP hackfest, and I've got it on my todo to have a read through the nbd_proxy code.

Do you have /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/ltsp_nbd file ? according to patch mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mountall/+bug/485709 it should be there but I dont have it

i'd just grab the newest version of ltsp_nbd from bzr...

<sbalneav>
Just have a look at what the patch is changing, and manually fix up your ltsp_nbd
13:27
or, do as vagrantc suggested.
13:28
<vagrantc>
you can also dump it in /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/initramfs-tools/scripts instead of mangling the version shipped with the package ... the version in /etc will take precedence

<Trixboxer>
vagrantc: new beginning, I have installed a new Ubuntu 10.04 server, now should I follow "https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPQuickInstall" ?
13:39
<AndyGraybeal>

13:40
<vagrantc>
Trixboxer: i'm not sure what's the best documentation for ubuntu, but that doesn't sound like a bad starting point... hopefully. :)
13:40
<Ghidorah>
The docs on UbuntuLTSP are pretty nice
13:40
<abeehc>
Trixboxer: that's pretty well what i've used a few times in the last couple months
13:41
<alkisg>
Trixboxer: the disconnect is caused by a check made by the ldm scripts to see if there's a newer version of the image, and if it is, it prompts for a reboot. It's normal to see that disconnect (on /dev/nbd9)
13:42
If you're able to login and then X crashes and you logout, check for a possible compiz problem
13:42
!gnome-wm
13:42
<ltspbot>
alkisg: "gnome-wm" :: the default window manager in gnome is gnome-wm, which automatically chooses compiz if it thinks that the card supports it. Compiz is causing login problems to some clients. To disable it, see !disable_compiz. To restore it, see !restore_compiz

<Trixboxer>
hmm ok... let me build the LTSP on ubuntu and will let u know guys.. doing it the 3rd time and counting...
13:44
<alkisg>
If you restarted with the server version, you'll need to install ubuntu-desktop as well (with tasksel install)
13:47
<Trixboxer>
alkisg: is that for me ?
13:47
<alkisg>
Yes, if you used the server CD
13:48
<Trixboxer>
I have installed ubuntu 10.04 Desktop
13:48
and now ltsp-server-standalone
13:48
<alkisg>
OK, I thought that you meant the server CD there: "new beginning, I have installed a new Ubuntu 10.04 server,"
13:48
Go ahead with the quick install page
13:48
<AndyGraybeal>
hmm i don't have lts.conf in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386 .. is this normal if i haven't set any options in it?
13:49
<alkisg>
AndyGraybeal: yes, by default no lts.conf exists
13:49
<AndyGraybeal>
alkisg: cool, thank you
13:56
so i just edited /var/lib/tftboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf and i added two lines: SCREEN_07=ldm & SCREEN_08=ldm .... i rebooted the thinclient, it only has x on F7, F8 is a blinking cursor in the top left corner. what did i do wrong?
13:56
i'm in ubuntu 10.04
13:59
<Trixboxer>
