I'm using LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT to have opengl on thin clients, and it works fairly well, many opengl applications work find (including q3, so even heavier stuff is fine). however, the qt-creator always complains "QOpenGLShaderProgram: could not create shader program"... does anyone have a clue on how to fix that?

<gdi2k>
hi, having a quick panic, none of our machines are booting, they stop at this: http://i.imgur.com/ZBLBQZI.png any ideas what would cause this?
11:50
<elias_a>
gdi2k: Is LTSP server the same server as DHCP?
11:50
<gdi2k>
no it's not
11:50
we have a pfsense firewall that provides DHCP
11:52
I made a small change to lts.conf earlier in the day to adjust a specific client (auto login on a break room PC)
11:52
<elias_a>
gdi2k: I would say the LTSP server is down.
11:52
gdi2k: Does LTSP server answer to ping?
11:52
<gdi2k>
the server itself is up, but maybe some essential service
11:52
I can ssh into it no problem
11:52
maybe a reboot?
11:52
<elias_a>
Strange.
11:52
Yeah reboot it.
11:58
<gdi2k>
elias_a, yeh that did it, thanks for your help!
11:58
not sure what the issue was, I must have caused a disturbance in the force
11:59
<elias_a>
gdi2k: Sometimes you have to use the windows panic method ;-)
12:00
<gdi2k>
elias_a, yes, it runs so stable for months on end, I never even think about rebooting!
12:01
<elias_a>
gdi2k: Usually there's no need to :)

<ltsp_fan>
greetings all, i'm struggling with two issues: getting nbd to work and fixing a green screen problem on the client.
12:50
I followed vagrantc's advise, but I think I'm still doing something wrong: ltsp_fan: you'll need to edit update-kernels.conf in the chroot, ltsp-chroot dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-x.y.x, ltsp-update-image /opt/ltsp/XXX, ltsp-config nbd-server, service nbd-server restart
12:51
vagrantc asked me for the graphics card for the green screen problem and here are the details: VIA technologies CN700/P4M800 Pro/P4M80CE/VN/800 (S3 Unichrome Pro)
12:52
I have 7 of these machines
12:52
one machine has the following: Intel 82845G/GL Brookdale G/GE, there's no green screen but the text on the menu is garbled
12:53
any help is much appreciated
12:58
<bennabiy>
ltsp_fan: I think there were some updates to the driver support for some of the chipsets which causes some strange graphical behavior on systems which worked before
12:59
I am trying to work through some of these issues as well, but I am pretty sure it is not LTSP causing the issue
13:01
<ltsp_fan>
I have booted up ubuntu 12.04 and debian with kernel 3.14 and both work fine, but then again they are old kernels?

<pxeboot>
Hey there LTSP! I have a question on tftppath= mentioned in this 2010 post - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ltsp/+bug/526528
17:33
Is there a way to add the tftp prefix to load lts.conf files on the current version of LTSP?
17:34
Tried tftpboot=, tftproot=, arch=, chroot= and name= to no avail.
17:37
pxelinix.cfg/default has append ro initrd=ltsp/amd64/initrd.img init=/sbin/init-ltsp root=/dev/nbd0 nbdroot=/opt/ltsp/amd64 tftpboot=/ltsp/amd64
17:54
<vagrantc>
pxeboot: you have to use the dhcp option identifiers
17:54
there's basically a table of numbers that associate with the names
17:54
well, maybe
17:55AlexPortable has joined IRC (AlexPortable!uid7568@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-udfanbchtqqxutli)
17:55
<pxeboot>
yes. we are trying to make LTSP "portable" with multiple images
17:56
<vagrantc>
you mean i386 vs. amd64?
17:56
what do you mean by portable?
17:56
<pxeboot>
With a custom PXE menu, we load the lts.conf from i386. Having it load from the tftp directory just makes it better
17:57
We can bypass the dhcp config for testing multiple images quickly by adjusting a PXE menu, rather than an external dhcp., just point to one menu and no further adjustments are needed
18:04
btw, the nbdroot= allows us to use a custom pxe menu with only a single change to an external dhcp server and boot multiple images with no problem
18:19
oh.. and by portable.. we can chainload additional ltsp servers from the pxe menu, allowing us to test other OS's without touching the DHCP configs again
18:26alkisg has joined IRC (alkisg!~alkisg@ubuntu/member/alkisg)
18:27
<vagrantc>
pxeboot: well, there's currently no way to specify lts.conf from the bootprompt
18:28
pxeboot: you could actually set up a hook in ltsp_config.d that sets the values you want, instead of relying on lts.conf to set values.
18:28
there are some values that might not work for...
18:29gbaman has left IRC (gbaman!~gbaman@host81-139-207-136.in-addr.btopenworld.com, Remote host closed the connection)
18:32
<pxeboot>
Cool! OK! Thanks. We can embed gpxe/ipxe boot scripts and add them to the custom pxe menu or drop the lts.conf file in the chroot as well... though adding nbdroot= and tftppath= would keep it PNP w/o too many changes.
18:33
<vagrantc>
if it's a relatively small number of values, you can use bootprompt ltsp.FOOBAR=
18:36
<alkisg>
(01:20:46 μμ) vagrantc: pxeboot: well, there's currently no way to specify lts.conf from the bootprompt =>
18:36
==> I think I told that idea to knipwim and he implemented it
18:36
ltsp.var=value in the command line
18:37
init-ltsp.d/03-kernel-cmdline, in the end
18:37
Hi btw :)
18:37
<pxeboot>
ola!
18:38
<vagrantc>
alkisg: yeah, i know
18:39
<alkisg>
Sorry then, I misunderstood :)
18:39
<vagrantc>
but it's not specifying a full lts.conf
18:39
<alkisg>
The question is "how to specify the path to a custom lts.conf?"
18:39
<vagrantc>
that actually would be a really useful boot parameter .... ltsp.ltsconf=tftp:1.2.3.4:/path/to/lts.conf or something
18:40
<alkisg>
I think it's possible... let me check...
18:40
<vagrantc>
using the same techniques as the ltsp.FOOBAR stuff
18:40
it shouldn't be hard to implement
18:40
<alkisg>
tftp "$SERVER" -c get ${pathonly:-/ltsp/$(detect_arch)/}${LTSCONF:-"lts.conf"} $lts_conf_temp >/dev/null
18:40
It's settable with LTSCONF, isn't it?
18:40
So, ltsp.ltsconf=xxx
18:41
In the cmdline
18:41
<vagrantc>
oh, perhaps i was mistaken
18:43
it only specifies the filename, not the whole path
18:43
but that would be easy to extend
18:43
i guess you could use ltsp.ltsconf=../../../../path/you/really/want/lts.conf
18:44
<alkisg>
Yup, or symlinks server-side
18:44
Not too well organized, but it works
18:44
With multiple images one would probably use a global pxelinux.d path anyway
18:44
No arch subdir
18:44
(multiple images of the same arch)
18:45
<vagrantc>
i think pxeboot wanted a menu with different lts.conf based on menu selections
18:45
<alkisg>
So different ltsp.ltsconf=xxx parameters in the cmdline, easy
18:45
<vagrantc>
right
18:46
so no custom scripts...
18:46* alkisg wonders if we could pass lts.conf as an second initrd file
18:47
<alkisg>
(for the future, with ltspd etc)
18:47
So that it's available even before networking is up
18:47
http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/SYSLINUX#INITRD_initrd_file
18:47
It supports multiple filenames separated by commas
18:49
<vagrantc>
interesting
18:50
<pxeboot>
wow! very awesome stuff! Yeah. If a teach wanted to setup a course or a "textbook" with LTSP, they could label an image CHapter 1, CHapter 2 and so on, allowing them to stuff course appropriate material in an image, as well as other uses
18:51
the custom pxe boot menu keeps the net admin skill out of that after initial setup
19:03
OK. So non go on using ltsp.ltsconf=<full-path> or <tftp path>. Tried ltsp.name, ltsp.arch, ltsp.chroot as well.
19:10
<alkisg>
Is your ltsp recent enough, do you have that code?
19:10
pxeboot: 05-getltsconffile
19:10
tftp "$SERVER" -c get ${pathonly:-/ltsp/$(detect_arch)/}${LTSCONF:-"lts.conf"} $lts_conf_temp >/dev/null
19:10
and 03-kernel-cmdline
19:10
line 70, # export LTSP variables
19:11
Also, not <tftp path>, but lts.conf name inside the arch subdir
19:11
<pxeboot>
Running stock ltsp-server 5.5.1-1ubuntu2
19:11
<alkisg>
For example, for /ltsp/i386/my-lts.conf, you'd specify, ltsp.ltsconf=my-lts.conf
19:12
<pxeboot>
Oh! OK. Tried lts.conf inside tftp path
