<vsuojanen[m]>
I wonder if anyone have ever for image source copied a running livecd root to local disk and then within same livecd session installed ltsp and have the local disk nfs exported for pxe client nfsroot (rw)? is the chroot even possible to setup without downloading and moutning another copy of the livecd image?
09:48
<alkisg>
vsuojanen: if you put ubuntu.iso to /srv/ltsp/images/x86_64.img, and run ltsp-kernel, then the clients boot
09:48
No ltsp image is necessary
09:48
<vsuojanen[m]>
* chroot was just a term, not needed actually
09:51
<alkisg>
While if you mean that you want to run ltsp FROM a live cd, sure that's also doable, just bind-mount it to /srv/ltsp/images/x86_64.img and install ltsp and run ltsp kernel etc
09:54
<vsuojanen[m]>
i was thinking image preparation so as chroot directories but there is administrative client that gets the nfsroot_rw netbooting. livecd running -> rlivecd ootfs copid to sda1 -> nfs export (sda /) --> pxe adminstrative client -> finish the image in nfs_rw --> shutdown the administrative client --> the image source is stored on local disk in the machine that booted the livecd
09:55
http://ltsp.org/docs/installation/raspios/
09:56
<alkisg>
Sure, you can set ADMINISTRATIVE_CLIENT in any OS, not just on raspios
10:04
<vsuojanen[m]>
but without any servers could the livecd running root filesystem be copied to machines empty local disk and is it usable for nfsroot export then within same livecd session ? livecd is booted and left running as ltsp server where one nfs_rw exports the files that were copied to local disk (mounted in livecd sesson e.x. /mnt)
10:11
use case e.x. you visit another network/building, boot a livecd for one or two administrative client(s), they boot and while in nfs_rw , the administrators finnish their work without creating the image, then you do what ever you want with that image source they created
10:11
<alkisg>
Yes, sudo mount --bind /isodevice/casper/filesystem.squashfs /srv/ltsp/images/x86_64.img && sudo ltsp kernel
10:15
<vsuojanen[m]>
but the isodevice needs to be downloaded mounted in the running filesystem before bind mounting for the administratvie clients?
10:20
i had not yet took a look for this... checked...
10:20
did you mean e.x. ls -1 /cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs
10:20
/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs
10:20
ubuntu-unity@ubuntu-unity:~$
10:20
?
10:22
<alkisg>
Yes, that one
10:25
<vsuojanen[m]>
thanks, or let's hope I don't need that but if I have time I think it's a one topic for learning
