<ZAJDAN>
hi...on Thin client sudoers ... possible to use?
06:01
<alkisg>
ZAJDAN: the thin client session is running on the server so of course it's possible to use sudo there, normally
06:01
If you're talking about fat clients or localapps, say so...
06:01
!sudo
06:01
<ltsp>
I do not know about 'sudo', but I do know about these similar topics: 'sudoers', 'fat-sudo'
06:01
<alkisg>
!sudoers
06:01
<ltsp>
sudoers: Not recommented for security reasons: RCFILE_01="echo USER ALL=NOPASSWD: /path/to/program >> /etc/sudoers". USER and /path/to/program can also be ALL.
06:04
<ZAJDAN>
why I ask is , because I need run on thin client via ltsp-localapps xterm as root
06:06
<alkisg>
When you want to ask for localapps, say so, it's different...
06:06
See what I wrote above about sudoers
06:06
It works for localapps and for fat clients
06:06
<ZAJDAN>
or at least in the xterm command under root
06:18
when I will modify /etc/sudoers ..is also need to update-image?
06:19
I think yes, but two times ask, one time cut
06:26mikkel has joined IRC (mikkel!~mikkel@mail.dlvs.dk)
06:33
<alkisg>
Don't modify sudoers
06:33
Put the command above in lts.conf
06:33
You don't need to run ltsp-update-image when you modify lts.conf
06:39
<ZAJDAN>
you mean the RCFILE_01 ...?
06:40
<alkisg>
Yes
06:43
<ZAJDAN>
ok
07:00
and this options I could put for each client individually?
07:01
<alkisg>
Again, all lts.conf options can be put either globally or per client
07:01
You don't have to ask it for each option again and again...
07:01
<ZAJDAN>
ok..will remember
07:02
so I have add into lts.conf : RCFILE_01="echo operator-2 ALL=NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/softwedge >> /etc/sudoers"
07:04
client is up and I try: ltsp-localapps xterm -e sudo softwedge -c /dev/ttyS3 ...and Iam asked for password
07:04
<alkisg>
Run ltsp-localapps xterm
07:04
There, run sudo softwedge -c /dev/ttyS3
07:04
If you're asked for a password, see if your user is indeed named operator-2
07:04
And if /etc/rc.local does have that line
07:05
<ZAJDAN>
I am asked for password even when firstly rrun just xterm and in xterm sudo softwedge...
07:05
gonna check out the rc.local
07:09
true...rc.local contains similar command which i tried yesterday....but it was without sudo
07:10
<alkisg>
Do you have epoptes in your installation?
07:10
<ZAJDAN>
yes
07:10
<alkisg>
!vnc-edide
07:10
<ltsp>
vnc-edide: To share your screen with me, open Epoptes → Help menu → Remote support → Host: srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr, and click the Connect button
07:12
<ZAJDAN>
ok...just moment..I am connected to the machine via ssh
07:18
ltsp/alkisg: connected
07:21
<alkisg>
ZAJDAN: you have an error in your rc.local, and so the RCFILE commands don't run
07:21
The error is that you try to run xterm before Xorg launches
07:21
Remove that xterm command from rc.local
07:22
<ZAJDAN>
from rc.local it was deleted yet..but so far did not update-image
07:22
<alkisg>
OK, fix it then
07:22
<ZAJDAN>
changes in rc.local needs update-image ?
07:23
<alkisg>
...yes
07:23
<ZAJDAN>
ok..update is running
07:24
then I will reboot client
07:33jgee has left IRC (jgee!~jgee@200.118.140.142, Ping timeout: 255 seconds)
07:36
<ZAJDAN>
alkisg: image has been updated
07:36
client machine is newly booted
07:39
now when I run 'ltsp-localapps xterm -e sudo softwedge -c /dev/ttyS3' ...is not problem about password
07:41
but barcode scanner doesnt give output ....when I run 'ltsp-localapps xterm' from xterm 'sudo softwedge -c /dev/ttyS3'...scanner works correctly
07:42
could be a problem that I chain a few commands in ltsp-localapps ...?
07:50
<alkisg>
ZAJDAN: from xterm, run again xterm -e sudo ...
07:50
So that you see that the command you're using is wrong
07:50
<ZAJDAN>
ok...will try
07:54
alkisg: I have xterm window and from there I have run command 'xterm -e sudo softwedge -c /dev/ttyS3' ...xterm window blink(like when open new window)..and nothing happened...no message, nothing
08:13
alkisg: SOLVED -> ltsp-localapps xterm -e "sudo softwedge -c /dev/ttyS3 && bash"
