16:43 | <BuddyButterfly> hi
| |
16:43 | I am just trying to setup epoptes. looked quite easy but did not work.
| |
16:44 | fetching server certificate does not work.
| |
16:44 | getting
| |
16:44 | 140070306322080:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_clnt.c:795:
| |
16:45 | epoptes logs a connect and an immediate disconnect afterwards.
| |
16:46 | Am I understanding the architecture right, that I can use my desktop (which is a single workstation) to administer all ltsp clients with connecting to the ltsp server via epoptes?
| |
16:47 | any idea?

17:11 | <alkisg_web> BuddyButterfly: are you using ltsp-pnp, or a chroot?
| |
17:12 | !ltsp-pnp
| |
17:12 | <ltsp`> ltsp-pnp: ltsp-pnp is an alternative (upstream) method to maintain LTSP installations for thin and fat clients that doesn't involve chroots: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/ltsp-pnp
| |
17:12 | <BuddyButterfly> ltsp-pnp
| |
17:12 | alkisg_web: hi, btw
| |
17:13 | <alkisg_web> what's the md5sum of /etc/epoptes/* of the ltsp server and the epoptes server?
| |
17:13 | sudo md5sum /etc/epoptes/*
| |
17:13 | <BuddyButterfly> I got it now to work when connecting to the ltsp server via x2go. then epoptes works perfect!
| |
17:14 | but can not do the epoptes-client -c
| |
17:16 | d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e /etc/epoptes/server.crt
| |

| |
17:17 | <alkisg_web> is that true for the epoptes server too?
| |
17:18 | bb in 20 min...
| |
17:18 | <BuddyButterfly> I have installed epoptes server on the ltsp server because this is an ltsp-pnp....
| |
17:18 | cul
| |
17:19 | but I can live with the "remote" version. strange is that all this docu seems not to work....
| |
17:35 | <alkisg_web> Back
| |
17:35 | BuddyButterfly: I don't get it, what part of the documentation doesn't work for you?
| |
17:35 | There can only be one epoptes daemon for each client
| |
17:35 | It can either be the ltsp server, or the epoptes server, but not both
| |
17:36 | It's also possible to use ltsp remoteapps to launch the epoptes GUI remotely, or you can use x2go
| |
17:36 | I don't think there's any documentation anywhere that states otherwise
| |

17:49 | <BuddyButterfly> alkisg_web: documentation I have found states that for any client one should execute epoptes-client -c to retrieve the certificate. This does not work.
| |
17:51 | alkisg_web: http://www.epoptes.org/installation
| |
17:51 | Section: Client package installation for standalone clients
| |
17:52 | GodFather has left IRC (GodFather!~rcc@96-94-54-78-static.hfc.comcastbusiness.net, Ping timeout: 256 seconds) | |
17:52 | <alkisg_web> BuddyButterfly: your standalone pc is an epoptes-client, to be controlled by the ltsp server, or an epoptes-server?
| |
17:53 | That section works fine for clients, but it sounds like you want to have a second pc that controls the clients, which is an epoptes server, not an epoptes client
| |
17:53 | <BuddyButterfly> standalone pc is "nothing" at the moment. I wanted it to convert it to an epoptes client.
| |
17:53 | <alkisg_web> If you have a pc which has linux installed, you can install epoptes-client on it and set up /etc/hosts and run epoptes-client -c and you can then control it from the epoptes server
| |
17:54 | That's what "standalone epoptes client" means
| |
17:54 | <BuddyButterfly> alkisg_web: yep, right. this was my first intention. now, where x2go works perfect for maintenance, I am fine with x2go.
| |
17:54 | <alkisg_web> I'm still not sure whatyou mean.
| |
17:54 | Anyways, i'm off for now, bbl..

| |
17:54 | this is the problem.

17:54 | I am getting:
| |
17:55 | 139708405343904:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_clnt.c:795:
| |
17:56 | this is what I meant that it does not work like in doc.
| |
17:56 | still have no idea why this tls error comes.
| |
18:06 | <sbalneav> BuddyButterfly: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15421050/node-request-getting-error-ssl23-get-server-hellounknown-protocol
| |
18:06 | Looks like you're trying to do an ssl connection to a non ssl port.
| |
18:17 | <BuddyButterfly> sbalneav: tnx for feedback. will have a look for it.
| |
18:27 | wrong port is very unlikely because epoptes-client uses fixed port.
| |
18:27 | it looks more like a protocol mismatch.

23:38 | <ltspnoob> Hello there! I have just recently configured LTSP on Ubuntu 16.04 running fat clients and it works perfectly. However, as it stands right now, is that the fat clients require a direct access. This becomes a problem to me as anyone can just unplug the fat client and plug in their machine and have access to the whole network. This isn't the case through thin clients. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
