Hi guys, is LTSP actively being developed? The ltsp.org page looks quite dead
09:32
<nolaan_>
aheyde: They are not on github, ask them why ;). You can find them on launchpad https://git.launchpad.net/ltsp

<ogra_>
nolaan_, ltsp is on launchapd because neither git nor github did exist back then and launchpad was better than the ad-plastered sourceforge (beyond this the bug management on LP is still outstanding over all the other sites)

i havent touched ltsp in 5 years or so ... just telling you why it is there right now :)
10:27kjackal has left IRC (kjackal!~quassel@onopfy.static.otenet.gr, Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
10:27
<ogra_>
but i dont see any bugtracker on either site that allows such a deep integration with different distro bugtrackers as LP does (so you have a single upstream bug that directly hooks into the different distro bugtrackers and manages all info centralized)
10:28
so i understand why nobody bothered to move it away yet :)
10:28
<nolaan_>
ok

14:03
Btw the main reason we haven't moved to github, is because vagrant feels that launchpad is more open source friendly than github :)

<erik__>
Hello again, than you for your responses earlier. I have come to a conclusion about why the touch is working but not perfect. I could be wrong, however I would like to go ahead and detail what is going on, and if any of you like, please chime in.
20:16
When I use this command "xdpyinfo | grep dimensions" it tells my my dual screen dimensions are 3840*1920
20:17
And lets say I were to touch the far left of the ELO monitor, it touches in the correct space, however the further I move my finger to the right the further the mouse moves away to the right from my finger.
20:18
I believe that this problem could be fixed if I can just get those dimensions to report 1920x1080 or instead of ltsp treating my two monitors like one big screen it treats it as two individual screens. That is if its not already.
20:19
Of course xrandr is showing me two monitors a DVI-0 and a DVI-1 however when we log into the thin client the login screen is centered between the dual head display as if the system is treating both monitors as one ultrawide monitor.
20:21
I have done a lot of toying with xrandr commands though, but nothing seems to change the output of "xdpyinfo | grep dimensions"
20:26
Or maybe I just need to get this driver into the LTSP image, I just do not know where to begin to do that though. "http://support.elotouch.com/Download/Drivers/DriverDownload/"
20:26
<vagrantc>
you need to calibrate the device; you already have a driver
20:32
<erik__>
when we run xinput_calibrator it runs across both screens as if it is one big monitor. The problem is that one of the monitors is not a touch monitor so the calibration isn't being done right. So I'm having to click on those crossmarks with my mouse click.
20:32
<vagrantc>
ah.
20:33
use xrandr to disable the non-touch screen, and then calibrate ?
20:33
<erik__>
if we just use the one ELO monitor it works fine, no calibration needed.
20:33
<vagrantc>
and then re-enable
20:34
not really sure how you'd solve this in a non-LTSP case, but once you figure that out, can help you get it working on LTSP
20:35
<erik__>
this is on ltsp
20:35
<vagrantc>
try configuring it on a non-LTSP environment first.
20:36
such as a live CD/USB
20:37
<erik__>
do you mean on a thin client itself?
20:37
<vagrantc>
or any machine with two monitors, only one having touch support
20:37
ideally using as much of the same hardware as possible
20:38
there are some ltsp-specific things that mess with xrandr...

<erik__>
We made this video if you feel like viewing it. Its just demonstrates the issue. We booted Lubuntu off of a live USB. https://youtu.be/47LpMlgistA
21:21
<vagrantc>
so you have the same issue with Lubuntu?
21:24
<erik__>
Yes.
21:31
<vagrantc>
so, it's going to be easier to figure out how to calibrate it on a non-LTSP environment
21:31
so... figure that out, and then we can translate those steps into something that LTSP can do
21:32
there's nothing ltsp-specific about the issue
21:32
at least, not yet
21:34
<quinox>
can you configure ELO to use 50% of the width?
21:34
their faq has some issues about dealing with calibration, so it doesn't seem uncommon
21:36
the kernel driver seems rather small
21:39
http://media.elotouch.com/Support/files/install/Elo-Linux-Serial-v3.3.3_i686_Installation-Instructions.txt mentions multi-monitor setup
21:48
for debugging keyboards / mice I usually start with xvinfo
21:48
I meant to say "xev"
21:48
it pops up a window and reports X events happening inside that window
21:51
(and what happens with 2 ELOs attached to the same machine?)
