I'm in trouble with LTSP5 on Xubuntu Feisty.
When I want to start an Xfce session on the client, the session is closed as soon as it is opened: black screen for half a second and return to the gdm greeter.
If I start a "failsafe terminal" session, it's ok. I can even "startxfce4" from the terminal...
What makes that I can't start an Xfce session directly?

any help please
i have problem using blender with ltsp ! can someone help me ?
haier_on_Mars: I would hang tight in here for help. I doubt that many blender users in blenderchat can help much
ccherrett what should i do so ?
haier_on_Mars: what is the problem. Not that I think I will have the answer
i'm using ltsp under debian gnome and when i try to open blender, i don't have anything.
haier_on_Mars: I wonder if it is opengl over the terminal
haier_on_Mars: that would be my first guess
haier_on_Mars: do other programs work?
all other programs
expect bzflag, a 3d game
haier_on_Mars: sounds like an opengl problem
haier_on_Mars: blenders interface is opengl
haier_on_Mars: check this out: http://email@example.com/msg05476.html
haier_on_Mars: seems opengl is possible
i found exactely the problem
when lanchiung blender in a terminal, i have this message :
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "ws198.ltsp:0.0".
ERROR: Unable to open Blender window
haier_on_Mars: sounds like you are missing the drivers on the server
i think that the display is missing in xorg.conf

Hello. I hope everyone is doing well. I think I screwed up my LTSP server (Fedora Core) rather stupidly, but I'm hoping that it isn't as bad as I think it is.
In a nutshell, it won't boot because Grub can't find a file.
Error: 'Booting Fedora Core 188.8.131.52-32.fc6"
kernel /vmlinuz-184.108.40.206-32.fc6 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
Error 15: file not found
Press any key to continue.
Pressing a key takes me to the Grub screen where there is the one option for FC and then it cycles. I have access to the FC installation CDs and Knoppix.
I understand that the issue is that it can't find the appropriate image file to boot up (I think!) but I don't know where it should be or how to confirm it.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. thanks
Update: ok playing around with the rescue CD shows me under /boot I have no files (and therefore no Kernel!)
how can I download the appropriate file?
mount all your filesystems to some mountpoint like /mnt, then chroot to /mnt and then reinstall your kernel rpms
evarlast, thanks for helping. I mounted everything up using the rescue CD then I checked under /usr/src/redhat but all the directories under it are empty
Is this as simple as a yum command?
if your network is up and yum points to network, then yes.
the real worry you should have is why were all the files gone from /boot
evarlast, I just did as you suggested and yum-med in the kernel group.
There are now the appropriate files in /boot
good luck on reboot
In regards to why they are gone from /boot to begin with, I believe that was my error - a power failure occurred (which is where I found out that the UPS connected to the server is dead) and it wouldn't boot so I tried to uninstall and reinstall the kernel
that's when /boot was wiped.
I rebooted but I have the same error. I believe grub is looking for a different version/file than the one just installed in /boot
I'm rebooting back in to rescue CD to get the exact name of the vmlinuz file

Alright I think that yum and then renaming the file in grub.conf did it
just in time as I have to get going. thank you for your help.
