<bennabiy>
alkisg: do you have suggestions for how to uefi network boot ltsp?
13:36
<||cw>
configure the uefi to pxe?
13:36
do uefi's still have a legacy mode option?
13:52
<alkisg>
bennabiy: first option of course is to disable uefi or put "legacy ipv4" first
13:52
If that's not doable, then...
13:52
<bennabiy>
cannot enable legacy on it
13:52
<alkisg>
When I tried, proxydhcp wouldn't work at all due to known issues with dnsmasq
13:52
I've seen some recent commits, maybe now it does work,
13:52
<bennabiy>
I am using isc-dhcp
13:52
<alkisg>
but what did work, was the normal dhcp mode
13:52
There were additional issues client-side though
13:53
ipxe didn't work well, syslinux either,
13:53
so I ended up using grub in tftp root to chainload the kernel+initrd after that
13:54
<bennabiy>
but how do you get from uefi to tftp?
13:54
mine is not seeing anything presented for uefi
13:54
<alkisg>
I configured dnsmasq to point to grub+network.efi
13:55
I don't remember the exact name for the version of grub that has net support included and is signed for secure boot, but it's easy to find it
13:56ben_roose has joined IRC (ben_roose!~roose@roose.cs.wichita.edu)
13:56
<bennabiy>
so grub has a uefi version?
13:57
<alkisg>
Yes, both local one and for network
13:57
While pxelinux.efi or syslinux.efi or whatever its name was, either didn't work at all or had severe issues, I don't remember exactly but I've written it in some notes somewhere
14:02
<bennabiy>
Ok
14:03
I am trying to get that nexbox to work, so that it isn't money wasted
14:03
I would not recommend it for general use
14:03
for ltsp that is
14:04
it has a poor implementation of InsydeH20 firmware on it with no documentation and is designed for android or win10
14:05
<highvoltage>
all implementations of InsydeH20 are bad ime.
14:06* bennabiy nods
14:21mikkel has left IRC (mikkel!~mikkel@mail.dlvs.dk, Quit: Leaving)
14:28
<alkisg>
bennabiy: it should be very easy to put the kernel+initrd locally, and use KERNEL_DEVICE=/dev/sda1 in lts.conf to get them to auto-update

14:33ogra_ has joined IRC (ogra_!~ogra_@p5098ed03.dip0.t-ipconnect.de)
14:34
<alkisg>
(i.e. normal, local uefi, so that the firmware or the lack of upstream uefi support in ltsp doesn't matter)
14:37
Btw, "In order to change the secure boot setting, you need to set a supervisor password. Once password is set, secure boot setting will no longer be greyed out. Disable. Switch UEFI to legacy and save. Now enter BIOS again and clear the supervisor password."
14:45
<bennabiy>
will try that
15:19
<pscheie>
Heads up! jammcq has posted the wiki page for this year's LTSP By The Sea hackfest at http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/ByTheSea_2016
15:19
Let him know if you can make it.
15:28
<bennabiy>
this is not a secure boot issue on it, it is just issues.... It says legacy mode only for OPROM

alkisg: how do I single those machines with local storage out from the rest of the clients in lts.conf?
18:22
<vlt>
bennabiy: By IP or MAC address. You can define groups that share parameters.
