We want to use the arduino IDE under LTSP so I need to add all (LDAP) users to the dialout group. How do I do that?
09:05fottsia[m] has joined IRC (fottsia[m]!~fottsiama@2001:470:69fc:105::48bb)
09:05
<danboid>
I presume I need to add a new line to the LDAP config file
09:06
<alkisg>
danboid: hmm? For ltsp? For me, it worked fine with the stock sssd setup
09:08
<danboid>
I expect there must be an LDAP config statement to add all users to specific groups right?
09:09
<alkisg>
Sure, there's an #ldap channel if you want to ask which one it is, I don't remember off-hand
09:25
danboid: oh sorry I didn't see your initial question because matrix lost that IRC message
09:25
I just saw it via the web/libera IRC window
09:25
Let me get you the line for that...
09:27
danboid: use google translate on this message: https://alkisg.mysch.gr/steki/index.php?topic=7639.msg88724#msg88724
09:27
!learn arduino as `POST_INIT_DIALOUT="printf '# LTSP: allow access to Arduino, Wedo etc:\n*;*;*;Al0000-2400;dialout\n' >> /etc/security/group.conf && printf '# LTSP: allow access to Arduino, Wedo etc:\nauth\toptional\tpam_group.so\n' >> /etc/pam.d/common-auth"`
09:27
<ltspbot>
The operation succeeded.
09:34
<danboid>
Will that work for LTSPv5 too?
09:38
<alkisg>
danboid: yes although you'll need to rename POST_INIT_DIALOUT to RCFILE_01 or however it was called in LTSP5
09:58
<danboid>
The LTSPv5 docs will tell me what to name this variable? It is defined in ltsp.conf rather than a separate file right?
10:01
<alkisg>
In lts.conf. Yes search for RCFILE in man lts.conf
10:08
<danboid>
OK thanks alkisg!

nfs-home: You can mount /home over NFS, see https://ltsp.org/man/ltsp-nfs/#examples - it's faster and more stable than SSHFS, but also insecure
