01:56 | <hellodub> Does anybody know if it's feasible (and/or ok) to install the nvidia driver package on a debian based LTSP server?
| |
01:57 | Such that, it doesn't affect clients that don't need the proprietary drivers? I've tested doing this on a fresh install of LMDE 6, and swapping the Nvidia GPU to and AMD one and it detected the card just fine and chose the correct driver, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has done this?
| |
01:58 | I do understand that I'll be trading off cards that need Nouveau when I do this

10:34 | <quinox> In my experience, many many years ago it used to be a problem because the nvidia driver would swap out some of the graphical libraries making them incompatible with the ATI/nouveau setup
| |
10:36 | nowadays it might work OK actually
| |
10:38 | at least it feels like the nvidia package is less aggressive: I have one machine that can use both the closed-source and the nouveau drivers (after a reboot at least)
