hi all, i have a Ubuntu 6.06 LTS server with LTSP 4.2 installed. After updated yesterday by official repository, the gdm login became stucked suddenly after typing in username and password, about 2-3 minutes, to completely login, can anyone help on it?
i suspected it was the Perl module i updated yesterday, i checked the process while the user logging in, it appeared like "/usr/bin/perl -w /usr/bin/ltspinfo -h ws013ltsp -c SOUND"

hi! i'm using gutsy gibbon and my setup is as follows -> ldap user authentication from ms server 2003 (active directory). after login i have made a script that mounts couple of network shares etc. the problem is that i have no idea how to unmount shares on logout (i don't know any files that are run on logout)?? currently they are "left open" when user logs out. all help is hugely appreciated!
tuukka: You could use libpam-mount which should unmount at logout
I personally use kerberos for authentication then use the kerberos ticket with nautilus to use single-sign-on on the file server, so they simply have launcher pointing to smb://<server> on the desktop
tuukka, or autofs, it's mounted on use, and umounted after idletime
what means "Running /scripts/nfs-premount; nfsmount: need a path; retrying nfsmount"?
when i start ltsp client
hmm ... sorry, i try understand these things (= newbie to linux world) so it takes a while :) ... i have a shared folder called Personal on win box. Personal-share contains folders for all our students and for our staff ( i maintain a schools it stuff ) and i would still like to mount the shares based on username (ie Tuukka Peltoniemi only has folder tuukka.peltoniemi ) so could i use autofs to solve this thing??
stgraber: where do i find (or what is) libpam-mount??
it's a package

dan__t, still working on it, slow going
dan__t, likely to do the majority of it during the christmas break
Just reading your notes.
Please do not include pico.
http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/IntegratingLtsp - are you following that at all
dan__t, yes, that stuff is obvious
dan__t, the hard part is getting the necessary changes for mkinitrd accepted by the mkinitrd maintainer (political) and getting the upstream sources into suitable shape for cross-distro
dan__t, I could do it all with quick one-off hacks but that helps nobody.
Who is the maintainer?
dan__t, you really don't want to get into this.
What's the problem? Is (s)he being an ass?
It amounts to that, yes.
Well, you are far beyond where i thought you were, sorry.

problem: ltsp thin client boots fine, no errors, but local drives do not appear on server end. I followed a lot of howtos such as [wiki.ubuntu.com/DebugLocalDev] and it checked out ok. I even modded the line at the bottom so I could mount my local drives to the server manually by passing '/var/run/drives' however I can't get it to happen automatically. Ubuntu 7.10, ltsp5 (or whatever is the newest for this distro). Any ideas?

side note: running ssh -X -S /var/run/ldm_socket_vt7_[server IP] [username]@[server IP] "/usr/sbin/ltspfsmounter /var/run/drives/ add" works manually after logging in, though the floppy checks every 5secs :P
critola_: there is a bug in: /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/share/ldm/rc.d/S10-delayed-mounter
the "ssh" line there lacks a "-X"
please add it in and run ltsp-update-image on the server
also, on the server, the file /usr/sbin/ltspfsmounter has a line that needs to be removed in which the DISPLAY env variable is hard set to localhost:10
remove that line
(otherwise only the first user will get removable media)
thanks Gadi; rebuilding image...

Q-FUNK, http://www.x.org/wiki/UserPreferences create an account here
Q-FUNK, I'm creating a new page at http://www.x.org/wiki/AMDGeodeDriver
are you currently editing?
Q-FUNK, does this driver support only GX and LX? (NX is something else?)
warren: ok. please let me know when you've done your bit.
NX is an entirely different beast
NSC supports olders GX1
which X driver handles that?
AMD supports Media GX (a.k.a. GX2) and LX (a.k.a. GX3)
there once was a plan to merge -nsc and -amd into one driver called -geode
Q-FUNK, http://www.x.org/wiki/AMDGeodeDriver done
Q-FUNK, go ahead and correct/add anything you want
Q-FUNK, after you're done I'll add links to various other resources if you haven't already donen so

actually, Andres also is on OLPC team

amd bought the stuff from nsc, then further developed it
and NX is based on Athlon

the geode list is best for that, because we can collect feedback from different distros and debug this together
