my printing recently got busted . clients can print to network printers but not to local printers. things have been working for months. ubuntu 9.10 cups is now at 1.4.6. i've tried 1.4.0 up to 1.4.6 , 1.4.3 complained about usblp kernel something or other . I've tried a P printer too
08:05
the difference in the log is busted = /printers/DDLaser HTTP/1.1" 200 152936 Print-Job successful-ok one line entry and there is one client still able to print local this gices 2 lines in the log POST /printers/HP-LaserJet-CMCCLURE HTTP/1.1" 200 441 Create-Job successful-ok /printers/HP-LaserJet-CMCCLURE HTTP/1.1" 200 56675 Send-Document successful-ok

oh, you know it. I'm in the process of building a LTSP install that authenticates to AD, mounts samba shares based on AD group membership, and is running fat clients, while documenting all the stops down to a command level.

hi there :)
14:33
I have 2 servers
14:34
one is a centos 5 server call it the master
14:34
it has an LDAP server on it
14:34
I have a ubuntu 10.05 LTSP 5
14:35
I can login to the ltsp server OK
14:35
cannot login from a thin client
14:35
<robehend1>
login via an LDAP user, I assume?
14:35
<tastle731>
yes
14:36
<robehend1>
can you login to a thin client with a local user on the ubunte server?
14:36
<tastle731>
yes
14:36
root
14:36
<robehend1>
hmm, sounds ldap specific then. sadly, i've never used LDAP, so cant be to much help
14:37
<muppis>
tastle731, what it does when trying to login?
14:37
<tastle731>
loops me back to ldm
14:38
<muppis>
Can you catch any errors or it simply drops you back to ldm?
14:38
<tastle731>
drops back
14:39
<muppis>
Sounds like it can't mount user's homedir.
14:40
Or some else connection error to ltsp -server.

i've re-written the main function in the ldm greeter to use glade, is there any easy way to test it with out installing ltsp and netbooting?

<Gadi>
m4xx|home: have a look at the normal ldm screen script in /chroot/usr/share/ltsp/screen.d/ldm copy it and modify it enough such that instead of xinit, you run xephyr at the end

Any suggestions on how to have a single logon - yet keep people from seeing what another person logged in with the same login is doing?
