<Suresh>
Hi sir how to use x11vnc in ltsp over internet(Not local network)
06:18
<alkisg>
Suresh: eh, you use it normally, can you explain where you had problems with it?
06:19
Here's an example, if you do this, then you VNC to me:
06:19
!vnc-dide
06:19
<ltspbot>
vnc-dide: To share your screen with me, run this: sudo apt-get --yes install x11vnc; x11vnc -connect srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr - this is a reverse connection, it doesn't need port forwarding etc.
06:19
<Suresh>
I tried with x11vnc with local network(Same network) in ltsp, it's working but out side the or other network not working
06:21
<alkisg>
OK if I understand you correctly, this problem is completely unrelated to LTSP, and you just didn't do the appropriate port forwarding for VNC to work
06:22
You need to enter your router settings and port forward 5900 to the VNC server
06:25
<Suresh>
Ya sir, exactly i want to implement x11VNC server in my ltsp with out port forwarding method
06:26
<alkisg>
alkisg => Internet => router (ip=1.2.3.4) => vnc server (ip=192.168.1.123)
06:26
alkisg cannot access the vnc server without port forwarding in this ^ setup
06:27
It's a limitation of NAT networks. If you have NAT (normal router), you need port forwarding

Exactly i want to know this operation sudo apt-get --yes install x11vnc; x11vnc -connect srv1-xx.xx.xxx- this is a reverse connection, it doesn't need port forwarding.
06:42
please help me.
06:44
<alkisg>
Suresh: it doesn't need port forwarding from you, because *I* did port forwarding
06:44
You need port forwarding at least on one of the sides
06:48
<Suresh>
Sir Please help me. How to do this (Brief)
06:58
??
07:01
<alkisg>
Suresh, this isn't related to LTSP, I've sent you a PM in case you want to hire me to help you with port forwarding etc

Hello. Is it possible to mount samba shares with password on a ltsp 19 client?
13:40
Normally you'd use pam_mount.so, but that doesn't seem to work in this case
13:40
<vagrantc>
ah, ltsp 19 does mess with pam a bit; it might be overwriting some configuration?
13:41
look at the relevent configuration files in /etc/pam.d/
13:41
from a booted system
13:42
<elec332>
Is seems to be using a fake user of some sort. I added extra mount entries in the Pam files, but they are ran before the user logs in
13:45
<vagrantc>
it uses the users from the server and effectively adds them at boot... there's a way to disable that behavior and manually configure if you use some other authentication scheme
13:46
<elec332>
I use LDAP, so I already have the empty 54.sh file

elec332: with an empty pam-54.sh override, ltsp shouldn't be any different from normal non-ltsp clients
14:56
(you could use OMIT_FUNCTIONS=xx in ltsp.conf instead of an empty pam-54.sh file)
14:56
Also, there's nothing about "fake users"... what user do you mean?
15:00

15:00
It solves some issues with fuse3 in unstable

will be a week at the earliest, but yay :)
15:21
<elec332>
I have mount.so in common-password and common-auth
15:21
And both get executed before a user logs in
15:21
And not when a user does log in
15:25
<alkisg>
elec332: if you cat those files after boot, aren't they are you expect?
15:25
From what you describe, ltsp has nothing to do with pam in your setup

15:31
<elec332>
The Pam files still contain the mount.so entries on the clients
15:32
<alkisg>
elec332: do you see them modified by ltsp in any way? They shouldn't be
15:32
I don't think LTSP touches your setup; something else sounds misconfigured,
15:32
<vagrantc>
/8/8
15:32
<alkisg>
also, pam-auth is called at user login, I'm not sure what you mean "executed before a user logs in"
15:35
<elec332>
The problem is they are called before the user logs in, as user gdm
15:36
<alkisg>
Whatever you did there, should be unrelated to ltsp, and it should be the same as if it was a non-ltsp client
15:36
LTSP didn't touch pam, didn't do anything with GDM etc
15:36
<elec332>
When the system boots up, right before you are taken to the login screen I see the error messages from pam_mount failing to mount
15:37
OK, I'll see what's borked
15:37
<alkisg>
That sounds like you put them for gdm too
15:37
So gdm runs them for the gdm user when it starts

15:40

Because with a clean install (18.04) with ltsp and LDAP I get the following issues:

Libre Office doesn't work. Firefox prompts everyone to make a profile. Konversation (KDE app) irc client doesn't work. And mounting samba in Pam doesn't work either
