<alkisg>
vmassuchetto: if you set SCREEN_07=kiosk, then you shouldn't be getting a login screen at all
14:11
Why do you want to login on tty1? To run startx there?
14:11
Also, if you're using 10.04, did you put the kiosksession file that was missing?
14:12
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, no... i just said i can login on tty...
14:12
alkisg, no... the kioskSssion file is fine
14:12
im using 11.04
14:12
does LDM_AUTOLOGIN conflicts with SCREEN_07?
14:12
and gives you the login screen?
14:13
<alkisg>
If you're using the kiosk plugin, there's no LDM running, so it doesn't make sense to use LDM_AUTOLOGIN
14:13
<vmassuchetto>
ok
14:13
<alkisg>
If you login to tty1 and run: getltscfg -a, what do you get?
14:14
First step is to get the kiosk mode running, with firefox etc
14:14
Second step is to replace firefox with your own application
14:15
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, im building a new image here
14:15
alkisg, thats the plan =D
14:15
<alkisg>
What parameters did you pass to ltsp-build-client?
14:15
<vmassuchetto>
i look at the kiosk start script... doesnt seem complicated to switch application there
14:15
--fat-client --kiosk --mirror
14:16
<alkisg>
Don't use --fat-client, I think it'll conflict with --kiosk
14:16
And also you don't want a full desktop just to run an app
14:17
<vmassuchetto>
didnt know that --fat-client implies in a full desktop
14:36
alkisg, im definitively getting the login screen with the kiosk build
14:37
<alkisg>
vmassuchetto: Did you run ltsp-build-client again, without --fat-client?
14:38
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, yes
14:38
with the --kiosk param
14:38
<alkisg>
OK. Get a local shell and try: getltscfg -a, to see if your lts.conf options actually reach the client
14:38
!SCREEN_02
14:38
<ltsp>
alkisg: SCREEN_02: to get a root shell on an Ubuntu thin client: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/ClientTroubleshooting#Using%20a%20shell%20SCREEN.
14:39
<alkisg>
If you unlocked the root password, you can use tty1 instead
14:41
<vmassuchetto>
getltscfg -a gives me nothing
14:42
<alkisg>
Put your /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf to pastebin
14:44
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, http://pastebin.com/H1fsxLmA
14:45
<alkisg>
vmassuchetto: typo, you're missing an "l" in default
14:46
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, cant believe it
14:46
alkisg, i feel kinda stupid now... =p
14:46
<alkisg>
Nah don't worry it happens :)
14:47
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, now i get a X error
14:47
"invalid argument for -config"
14:53
<alkisg>
Try to get a `ps -ef` process list, to see how X is ran
14:53
I don't think it should be using -config at all
14:55* alkisg thinks the kiosk plugin needs a little debugging, but noone has enough interest in this to do it

<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, i think i can change this line #su - ${KIOSKUSER} -c "XINITRC_DAEMON=${XINITRC_DAEMON} xinit $xinitrc /usr/share/ltsp/kioskSession ${KIOSK_EXE} ${KIOSK_OPTIONS} -- ${DISPLAY} vt${TTY} ${X_ARGS} -br" >/dev/null
15:03
XINITRC_DAEMON seems to be an empty var
15:07
<alkisg>
vmassuchetto: that shouldn't be a problem though, it would just be an empty environment variable
15:07mistik1 has left IRC (mistik1!mistik1@unaffiliated/mistik1, Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
15:07
<alkisg>
Like doing: LANG= ls
15:08
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, yeah.. just saw that
15:08
alkisg, but i mean, i can change to launch the application i need
15:08mistik1 has joined IRC (mistik1!mistik1@unaffiliated/mistik1)
15:08
<alkisg>
If X won't start, how will you app start?
15:09
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, i thinks its not starting because of that line
15:09
alkisg, im just restarting things here to check
15:09
<alkisg>
OK, but keep in mind that xinit is what starts X
15:10
Also, running a ps to see what is actually ranwith that `su` command there, would help
15:11
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, it complains about a full path in X_ARGS
15:11
alkisg, a non-root should not use it
15:12
im trying to tweak this
15:12
<alkisg>
vmassuchetto: are you using X_CONF?
15:13
If not, then why would it put any path in X_ARGS?
15:13
<vmassuchetto>
well.. it appears on the command line
15:13
im not using X_CONF
15:13
<alkisg>
Can you paste the command line?
15:16mistik1 has left IRC (mistik1!mistik1@unaffiliated/mistik1, Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
15:16
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, just a little
15:16
alkisg, i have to manually copy it =D
15:17mistik1 has joined IRC (mistik1!mistik1@unaffiliated/mistik1)
15:17
<alkisg>
ps -ef | grep > file, then scp the file? but ok manual works too :)
15:18
<vmassuchetto>
su - ltspkiosk -c XINIT_DAEMON= xinit /usr/share/ltsp/xinitrc /usr/share/ltsp/kioskSession /usr/bin/firefox -- :7 vt7 -config /var/run/ltsp-xorg.conf -br
15:18
alkisg, thanks... but too late :)
15:19
<alkisg>
OK that config shouldn't be there if you didn't set X_CONF
15:19
getltscfg -a doesn't return X_CONF, does it?
15:19
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, no.. just SCREEN_07
15:21
<alkisg>
This file sets -config, but only if X_CONF is present: /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/share/ltsp/screen-session.d/XS90-set-x-conf
15:21
So I don't know what's wrong there
15:21
bbaib
15:22
<vmassuchetto>
alkisg, if i strip X_ARGS out of the command line, things just work
15:29
alkisg, well... i managed to launch the application properly instead of firefox
15:29
alkisg, many thanks, i couldnt do it without your help
15:30
<alkisg>
Well done! You're welcome :)

Does anyone know of a guide to setting up ltsp with 1 nic?
18:28
Normaly on 10.04 I would have 2 nics eth0 wound net internet on 192.168.1.88 and eth1 would be the default 192.168.0.1
18:28
And it works out of the box.

fossala: do you have another dhcp server running? Or will the ltsp server be a dhcp server too?
18:54
<fossala>
It will be the dhcp server aswell.
18:54
<alkisg>
Then you only need to update /etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf
18:54
Nothing special
18:55
<fossala>
Then update the image I guess?
18:55
<alkisg>
No
18:55
Ah, every time you change your server ip, you need to run ltsp-update-sshkeys and ltsp-update-image
18:56
<fossala>
Yeah thats what I ment
18:56
<alkisg>
So if you change your server IP, then yes, update the image, otherwise it isn't needed
