<mmarconm>
after i install ltsp and run ltsp-build-image ? i must to change something mount some storage on ltsp, when i try to install somthing on ltsp image i got a adivise /devs/opts is not mounted
16:25
<alkisg>
mmarconm: there are two ways to install ltsp
16:25
One is using ltsp-build-client, which creates a chroot
16:25
<mmarconm>
yes i used that
16:25
<alkisg>
And one is using ltsp-update-image -c /, which uses the server file system as a template, instead of a chroot
16:25
That second one is the recommended nowadays, unless you have different needs
16:26
ltsp-pnp and ltsp manager use that one
16:26
!ltsp-manager
16:26
<ltsp>
ltsp-manager: LTSP Manager is a GUI tool that makes LTSP maintenance easy. It's the recommended way to install LTSP in common setups. More info: http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/Ltsp-manager
16:26
<mmarconm>
ltsp-update-image -c / will create like a server clone to ltsp client ?
16:26
do u recommend ubuntu or debian ?
16:27
<alkisg>
Yes. You can use either, I'm maintaining LTSP in Ubuntu, and Vagrant is maintaining LTSP in Debian
16:28
<mmarconm>
debian has not --fat-client-desktop flag
16:28
<alkisg>
Eh, a fat chroot is just a normal chroot with a few additional packages
16:28
So you can just provide those to the ltsp-build-client command
16:29
<mmarconm>
alkisg: which DE do u recomends ?
16:29
gnome, lxde, xfce, mate ?
16:29
<alkisg>
MATE
16:29
I recommend following *exactly* the ltsp-manager wiki page
16:29
It even has the download link for the .iso
16:30
<mmarconm>
searching now
16:30
<alkisg>
That's why I wrote it :)

16:30GodFather__ has joined IRC (GodFather__!~rcc@wsip-24-249-172-216.ph.ph.cox.net)
16:30
<alkisg>
I pasted it above
16:30* mmarconm feels ashame
16:33
<mmarconm>
i ll make a video for brazilian how to install ltsp for education
16:33
<alkisg>
mmarconm: try to translate the ltsp-manager wiki page steps in brazilian, I think that will be a lot helpful
16:33
<mmarconm>
good idea
16:34
<alkisg>
Also, if they're using it widely, they may want to start helping, before it dies :D
16:34
<mmarconm>
ltsp are running on 18.04 ? or still testing ?
16:57
<alkisg>
mmarconm: I've tested and fixed a few bugs for ltsp in ubuntu 18.04, but I won't be pushing them upstream, I'll only be using them in my schools
16:58
<mmarconm>
ah :) Ok just asking, but i ll use 16.04 mate then
16:58
i never used ltsp manager, i ll give a try
16:58
<alkisg>
Yes that's the best option for now
16:58
<mmarconm>
OK and great work
16:59
alkisg: ahhh u got to integrate ltsp with ldap
16:59
<alkisg>
mmarconm: eh, basically you configure the ltsp server with ldap, the clients don't need it
17:00
<mmarconm>
yes
17:00
weird thats the ltsp users uses ltsp server account
17:01
and i configure apt-cacher-ng too to get all make cache of installations
17:01
<alkisg>
You only need that if you *don't* use ltsp-manager
17:02
ltsp-manager uses the server installation, so it doesn't download any packages
17:05
<mmarconm>
ahhh ok
17:06
its like a clone, all the package installed on server ll be avaliable on ltsp client too
17:06
<alkisg>
Right
