<RyanRyan52>
vagrantc: ya...how do I do that?

01:15
<RyanRyan52>
ok
01:16
<vagrantc>
RyanRyan52: if you have bzrtools installed, "bzr shelve" can be very useful to help stash some changes away while leaving others

12:38
google it
12:39
<cliebow_>
SteveWrightNZ, this is ubuntu?
12:39
<SteveWrightNZ>
yes
12:39
<cliebow_>
install gdm where? on the chroot?
12:39
<SteveWrightNZ>
yes
12:40
now the terminals act like no one has an account
12:40
<cliebow_>
ummm..i thought the options were ..either use the default ldm..or use the server's gdm..
12:41
heh..they prob dont..unless you chroot and add users there...
12:41
<SteveWrightNZ>
ok. not an LTSP newb, but a vers 5 newb
12:41
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Updated_Version_For_Feisty
12:41
<cliebow_>
yeah Steve.. you been around.,.and we are all ltsp5 newbs
12:41
<SteveWrightNZ>
8-)
12:42
I must say ltsp5 is the cats pajamas tho
12:42
light years ahead
12:42
<cliebow_>
the memory requirements kind of leave me behind..
12:42
<SteveWrightNZ>
oh I hadnt thought of that
12:43
<cliebow_>
most of my pos machines wont run a 2.6 kernel
12:43
<SteveWrightNZ>
looking forward to Beryl/XGL on the terminals
12:43
rats
12:43
how goes the K12LTSP list these days ?
12:44
<cliebow_>
Steve..i wonder whether you will be better off starting from scratch..
12:44
i dont hear much from k12ltsp..
12:44
<SteveWrightNZ>
oh this is a new system
12:44
<cliebow_>
but warrwn is hot on the trail of ltsp5 in fedora
12:44
<SteveWrightNZ>
it is too easy to just use Ubuntu now
12:45
<cliebow_>
fedora will be there very soon..warren had beryl running on eharrisons laptop in November!
12:45
as a client
12:46
<SteveWrightNZ>
yeah its yummy ay

12:46
they did omit to add that no one would be able to log in tho
12:46
<cliebow_>

you should consider gutsy..the squashfs technique ogra created speeds tings up
12:47
in spades
12:47
<SteveWrightNZ>
ok
12:48
7.04
12:48
<cliebow_>
there is a chroot..but there only really to build a squasfs image..
12:49
wich is nbd mounted..
12:50
<SteveWrightNZ>
oh
12:50
<cliebow_>
your url looks like an Awful lot of work
12:50
<SteveWrightNZ>
so I have to rebuild the image every time I mod it ?
12:50
mod anything in the chroot ?
12:50
<cliebow_>
You **need** to have entries in your hosts file on both the thin client environment and on the server for each of your clients
12:51
yes..it is a pain..
12:51
<SteveWrightNZ>
that is odd.. I could make changes in the ldm themes and just restart X and it picked them up
12:52
no restart or remake squashfs
12:52
<cliebow_>
but...lts.conf is tftp downloaded..so not necessary a part of the chroot\\
12:52
<SteveWrightNZ>
ok
12:52
<cliebow_>
feisty didnt use the image

16:36
Not necessarily LTSP, but anyone know of a little device, fanless, run from a CF card and powerful enough to run cron jobs to play MP3s?
16:36
And cheap. it this can't cost < $150, I might as well buy a cheap PC

18:42
Was running jabberd2, now ejabberd
18:42
<rjune_>
cool
18:43
<PMantis>
It's giving me trouble. You still have a jabber account?
18:43
<rjune_>
don't think so
18:43
at least not on your server
18:43
I have mine
18:43
<PMantis>
it was at bravegnuworld
18:43
<rjune_>
rjune@bravegnuworld.com
18:43
that's mine
18:43
<PMantis>
Huh
18:44
My server was getting a 404 from that
18:44
<rjune_>
probably how I'm running it
18:44
may not work for jabber communication
18:45
<PMantis>
huh?
18:46
I have a log of a conversation we had on a jabber protocol.
18:46
<rjune_>
yeah, Im ove my jabber server
18:47
it's goofy now.
18:47
it may not work at the moemnt, give me a few
18:47
<PMantis>
Oh, ok
18:47
I wanted to talk to someone that had jabber to see how mine worked. hehe
18:48
It was a trick and a half trying to get ejabberd to auth through PAM
18:49
It still won't work unless I run ejabberd as root... the perl Authen::SimplePam fails with an unknown error even if the ejabberd user is part of the "shadow" group.
18:54
<rjune_>
yeah, but if you have LDAP it'll probably work right
18:56
<PMantis>
True... not using ldap for this machine... althought I wanted to.
18:56
It added a complexity that I didn't want yet
18:56
Oh wait!
18:57
openldap can use passwd/shadow as a db type, iirc!
18:57
hmmm
18:58gonzaloaf has quit IRC
19:18
<PMantis>
Hmph, I got it working but it has no access to shadow.. so can lookup users, but not bind or auth.

19:36

Uhm, no
19:36
Seems important. :)
19:37
But it uses "passwd" as a backend... no mention of shadow, but I'll try.
19:39
hmmm, still won't bind
19:40
