Hi, small query on ltsp installation. How was Ubuntu modified to act as a LTSP server - UbuntuLTSP?
03:40
Additionally, my company is trying to figure out how it install ltsp server on an android machine or modify Android so it supports LTSP similar to UbuntuLTSP. If someone can guide us and is interested in freelance work, please ping me on: johns4897@googlemail.com

Hi..please: RS232 vs Thin client...will works?
08:04
<alkisg>
ZAJDAN: if you're asking "how can I access the serial port from a thin client", the answer is "use localapps or ltsp fat clients"
08:06
<ZAJDAN>
alkisg: for thin client is need to use localapps?
08:06
<alkisg>
Yes
08:06
!localapps
08:06
<ltsp>
localapps: to access a tutorial on setting up localapps on jaunty, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPLocalAppsJaunty
08:06
<alkisg>
Eh, that's a really old tutorial though
08:07
!forget localapps
08:07
<ltsp>
The operation succeeded.
08:08
<alkisg>
!learn localapps as To run applications locally on the thin client, using its CPU/RAM and having access to local resources like disk/USB etc, see: http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/Ltsp-localapps
08:08
<ltsp>
The operation succeeded.
08:10
<ZAJDAN>
LOCAL_APPS= ..it is global options or could be set for each client separately?
08:47
<alkisg>
All options can be set globally or per client. It's up to you to decide what suits you.

hi. alksig -- already here again?
15:38
I tried what you said yesterday evening
15:39
now "ifup eth0" works (again). Ubuntu uses PredictableNetworkInterfaceNames since V.15.04 (?).

15:51
<alkisg>
question1000: the question was if the scripts that are in /etc/network/if-up.d get to run when the computer boots
15:51
Not if `ifup eth0` works...
15:52
I suspect that you have a misconfiguration or some broken software which results in the if-up.d scripts not being ran when the computer boots
15:52
But since you usually reply after hours, it's hard to help via IRC... :)
15:53
ZAJDAN: yes. And if you also use LOCAL_APPS_MENU_ITEMS in lts.conf, it will generate some menus for localapps. Read the lts.conf man page.
15:54
<ZAJDAN>
alkisg:thnx
15:56
when I create new script for option SCREEN_07 in /usr/share/ltsp/screen.d/myscrip ...then I will need ltsp-update-image ...?
15:56
<alkisg>
Yes
15:56
<ZAJDAN>
thnx

<question1000>
alksig: you said that epoptes just starts with ifupdown ... but (per default) the systemd in ubuntu doesn't use this any more, right?
15:59
<alkisg>
By default if-up.d scripts get to run in all ubuntu versions
15:59
Also, my name is alkisg, not alksig; use tab to autocomplete the names...
16:00
I'll be back in 30'.

16:18
<question1000>
alkisg: sorry for typo :) could it be a problem that the device is not named /dev/eth0 but /dev/ens18 by default? Also there's no entry in /etc/network/interfaces per default
16:18
so ifup eth0 or ifup ens18 can't work this way, right?
16:26forum has left IRC (forum!~Thunderbi@188-22-152-171.adsl.highway.telekom.at, Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
16:28
<ZAJDAN>
alkisg: so I have created the script, but during boot client stop on warning: Script ''myscrip" for SCREEN_07 was not found
16:31
<alkisg>
question1000: ethernet devices are not in /dev
16:31
question1000: if you have access to the client, I can check what's wrong with your setup, otherwise this talk doesn't help...
16:32
ZAJDAN: are you using ltsp-pnp, or the chroot-based ltsp?
16:32
<ZAJDAN>
Iam not sure, but think that pnp
16:33
<question1000>
ok, the problem is again, that no client is running at the moment ... I can check it monday ... but nevertheless: thanks for support!
16:33
<alkisg>
ZAJDAN: what's the output of: ls /opt/ltsp ?
16:33
question1000: ok, so again, come back when you have access to a client
16:33
<ZAJDAN>
alkisg: images
16:34
<alkisg>
question1000: There are 1000 unrelated questions that I can answer but none of those will solve your issue, if we don't focus to what's really wrong with your setup
16:34
ZAJDAN: then you're using ltsp-pnp
16:34
ZAJDAN: ls -lha /usr/share/ltsp/screen.d/ | nc termbin.com 9999
16:35

http://termbin.com/yqlu ...remmina-operator-2 I call from SCREEN_07
16:37
now I see the problem
16:37
missing rights :(
16:37
chmod +x
16:37
<alkisg>
;)
16:38
ZAJDAN: to make tests faster, you can put INIT_COMMAND_01="chmod +x /usr/share/ltsp/screen.d/remmina-operator-2" in lts.conf
16:38
...to avoid running ltsp-update-image
16:38
<ZAJDAN>
super! thnx and sorry
16:38
<alkisg>
You can also run INIT_COMMAND_01="wget script -O /usr/share/ltsp/screen.d/remmina..." until you get it right
16:39
I.e. to get the script via http on boot, instead of running ltsp-update-image all the time
16:39
<ZAJDAN>
such many nice options :) wooow
