hi ppl :) hi alkisg and happy new year to everybody
11:31
I want to try ltsp-pnp today, but I've some dubts... like a) in "normal" ltsp I customized the chroot so i.e. for kde the phonon audio I have a script in /etc/X11/Xsession.d, how can I do with "pnp" version?
11:31
and b) what about a 2 interface server? The wiki states that you have to put a specific IP in the interface that is connected to clients, but then...? Does it "autoconfigure" with some script once it finds that IP?
11:32
and c) what if I've no a dhcp in my lan? I've read that this config is supported but did not understand how
11:32
that's all for today :()
11:32
:)

<alkisg_android>
Hi all
13:09
douglascaye, give more details
13:10
markit, you can put the script either dynamically on boot,
13:11
or have it check if its an ltsp client or not
13:12
about 2 interface, it will work automatically if you use 192.168.67.1
13:12
ltsp-config configures dnsmasq for that
13:13
<douglascaye>
When I override the image-ltsp for the stations, the printers stop working, every print that I send from the clients fails filter!
13:14
utilizo o ltsp em conjunto com o serviço ndb-server
13:16
I get the impression that the stations try to print locally instead of sending it to the sharing server cups!
13:16
<alkisg_android>
douglascaye, what do you mean "override the image ltsp"?
13:17
<douglascaye>
Sorry if I'm not writing correctly, I do not speak English! I'm using google translator
13:17
<alkisg_android>
are you using thin or fat clients? and which distro/version?
13:18
<douglascaye>
What I mean is to make the ltsp image
13:19
Debian Jessie
13:20
eu uso clientes finos
13:20
I use thin clients
13:21
<alkisg_android>
If you login to the server directly, can you print?
13:21
<douglascaye>
yes
13:22
<alkisg_android>
login to a thin client and open a terminal and write: hostname
13:22
what is the output?
13:22
<douglascaye>
Printing does not work just by the stations
13:23
ltsp101
13:24
<alkisg_android>
it is not a thin client, it is fat
13:24
try this in lts.conf:
13:24
<douglascaye>
Network address 192.168.0.101
13:24
<alkisg_android>
CUPS_SERVER="$SERVER"
13:25
<douglascaye>
I'll try here
13:25

markit: if [ -n "$LTSP_CLIENT" ]...
15:34
Those are essential directives for ltsp client programming :D
15:35
You can also use something like "if grep -q init-ltsp /proc/cmdline", many of the ltsp client scripts start with that
15:36
!ltsp-source
15:36
<ltsp`>
ltsp-source: at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ltsp-trunk/files

<alkisg_web>
Check for example this file: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ltsp-trunk/view/head:/client/initscripts/ltsp-core
15:37
This line: grep -qs "init=/sbin/init-ltsp" /proc/cmdline || exit 0
15:43
<markit>
I don't even know there is a ltsp-client program! What a shame :( I should learn it deeper (like 9.000 other items in my list of "should know")
15:44
alkisg_web: thanks a lot, I'll dig deeper later
15:45

markit: there is a "package" ltsp-client, which has a lot of scripts
15:45
dpkg -S ltsp-client-core shows the scripts

btw is it safe (i.e. tested) to deploy in 16.04?

16:50
irclogs.ltsp.org?
16:50
That is a syntax error so your lts.conf doesn't get parsed
16:50
Anyway, open a client terminal and run this: cat /var/cache/ltsp/*env*
16:51
Do you see CUPS_SERVER there?
16:51
Another test that you can do, is to open printer settings in a client, and select "connect" from the menu, and manually specify the ltsp server IP. Do you see the printers then?
