<muvlon>
whoop!
02:09
I just pxe-booted something with ltsp for the first time :)
02:10
with my laptop as the server and the only other working piece of amd64 hardware that I could find
02:11
a sunfire X2200
02:30
even the lightdm works right away
02:30
on this puny VGA

muvlon: it's LDM, not LightDM :)
04:56
<muvlon>
huh?
04:56
the L is not for light?
04:56
it looks just like lightdm too, with the bar at the top and all
04:57
now that I think about it, it did look a little janky for lightdm
05:01
<alkisg>
LightDM is a display manager developed by Ubuntu
05:01
LDM is the LTSP Display Manager, it's white on Ubuntu
05:02
LDM is 10 years older than LightDM...
05:04
<muvlon>
ah, ok
05:04
it had the regular debian stretch background image
05:04
so it looked a lot like default lightdm
05:06
<alkisg>
In debian it has the stretch background, yeah

Upon installing ltsp-manager (for example) you get a dialog box asking “Disconnect all NBD devices on "stop”?” with an explanation. A while back I had heard it doesn’t matter if one selects yes or no if one is doing a ‘standard install’. Does that remain true?

<dgroos>
here’s a screen shot of the whole dialog box. I’ve always found it unintelligable and foreboding: https://pasteboard.co/GKeRJsb.png
23:00
:-) finally found the forum discussion where I asked this same question in 2012! alkisg said back then: “Whatever you select there doesn't make any difference for LTSP. It's for clients declared in /etc/nbd-client, and LTSP doesn't use that file.”
23:01
In the serching I found others who have commented on that dialog box (when installing ltsp). Since I guess everyone sees this upon installation of ltsp packages, I suggest this short quote be put on the corresponding ltsp.org pages.
