jammcq: hi! I'd love to come to Maine, but unfortunately it's too expensive for me to do it frequently... maybe once in 10 years or so :-/

<alkisg>
Maybe we could instead merge it with debconf, so that we at least have accomodation, and it's in different places each year, so that travel expenses are less sometimes?
06:25
(and also it's easier to justify large travel expenses if one stays there for 7-15 days, rather than 3-4 days... meaning that we could still have ltsp bts for 3-4 during debconf, but those that want, could stay for the whole debcamp/debconf there)
06:26
In other words, I propose to transform LTSP BTS to LTSP BD (By Debconf) :D

Hello. We are using LTSP for 8 years now on i386 thin clients for our Ubuntu Desktops. How can we add a Raspberry Pi (2) as client?
12:36
Is there an SD card image that does the PXE part?
12:36
Which --arch do I need to create the client image on the server?

alkisg: hey buddy
14:25
<alkisg>
Hi jammcq :)
14:27
<jammcq>
I saw your message about doing something in Europe, along with debconf. Vagrantc was also talking about that. It makes alot of sense, but I wouldn't be able to make it there this year.
14:28
<alkisg>
Me and vagrantc will probably be there, and if we held and ltsp event, we might persuade ogra_ to come too...
14:28
Hyperbyte is nearby as well
14:28
<ogra_>
only depends on my traveling ... i cant predict yet if i will be in germany
14:28
<alkisg>
And Phantomas may come (the epoptes developer, he might help in making ltspd + ltsp config editor)
14:28
<jammcq>
ogra_: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14:28
<ogra_>
hey jammcq
14:29
<jammcq>
ogra_: I met one of the BeagleBone guys a few days ago. Jason Kridner
14:29
you know him?
14:29
<ogra_>
ah, the BBB "boss"
14:30
only from IRC (and he is in my G+ circles)
14:30
<jammcq>
yeah, he gave a great presentation at our user group on tuesday
14:30
<ogra_>
is he from detroit ?
14:30
<jammcq>
originally from texas, but lives around here now
14:30
not sure why he'd move here
14:30
<ogra_>
ah, cool
14:31
<jammcq>
ogra_: if your travels permit, we're looking at Oct 15th for BTS-2015
14:31
or possibly the 22nd
14:32
<ogra_>
i'll try, really depends what comes out of MWC :)
14:32
if we have 10 new phones or some such my workload will be massive
14:32
<jammcq>
MWC ?
14:32
<ogra_>
(and i might have to travel to customers)
14:32
mobile world congress
14:32
<jammcq>
ah
14:32
<ogra_>
just ended a few days ago
14:33
and we presented our higher end smartphone there
14:33
<jammcq>
well... last year I did a horrible job of getting the word out. this year, I wanna get things rolling
14:33
<ogra_>
(as well as snappy and IoT stuff)
14:33
yeah
14:33
<jammcq>
keeping busy, eh?
14:33
<ogra_>
i really want to make it this year
14:33
totally :)
14:34
the "your phone as a desktop" thingie was a big hit at MWC
14:34
<jammcq>
I would guess that demos well. not sure how it would actually work tho
14:35
<ogra_>
well, with miracast and bluetooth mouse/kbd you would just go near your desk and the phone automatically becomes our desktop while in yoour pocket
14:36
<jammcq>
yeah, that's what I want. an electronic device doing lots of cpu work really close to my "man parts" :)
14:36
<ogra_>
lol

<championofcyrodi>
anyone have thoughts on why DHCPOFFER requests are not being heard by the clients? 68UDP is open on the client's firewall.
15:10
<alkisg>
They don't reach the clients, or they ignore them because e.g. they're missing boot info?
15:11
Try with ipxe, it has better debug messages
15:11
!ipxe
15:11
<ltsp`>
ipxe: iPXE is the successor to the etherboot/gPXE project, and can be used to netboot clients that don't have a NIC ROM with a PXE stack. To add it to grub, see !grub-ipxe. To add it to the Windows boot loader, see !win32-loader. To download floppy, CD or USB images, visit http://ipxe.org or install the ipxe package.
15:14
<championofcyrodi>
Not reaching the clients. Just trying to set up isc-dhcp-server manually and my client is already up, and trying to bring ethernet up, (ifup eth0). I see the DISCOVER request on the server's logging, the server responds with DHCPOFFER, but the client just keeps making requests.
15:14
I'll see if a PXE boot gives anymore information though, thanks.
15:15
<fiesh>
you looked at tcpdump's output?
15:15
to make sure the packets are actually on the network, not blocked by a firewall or the likes
15:18
<championofcyrodi>
no, but that is a good idea too. I'll try that as well, thanks!

tcpdump shows that the DHCPDISCOVER command is being sent from the client, but the DHCPOFFER is not showing up, using: tcpdump -i eth0 -vvv -s 1500 '((port 67 or port 68) and (udp[8:1] = 0x1))'

i'm wondering if the routing table is not set up correctly on the server. because the firewall policy is the same for the server as the client.
16:30
both have range 67-68 UDP open for ingress and egress.
