Anyone have problems with gnome-screensaver not functioning?
lock screen throws an error 'XF86VidModeClientNotLocal' Any clues? I'm thinking its trying to run on server display, not the terminal
Oh, running K12Linux
Do you have "blank_only" set?
Or are you actually trying to run a graphical screensaver?
yes, set from the screensaver applet
|00:45||NeonLich1 has quit IRC|
For starters, you *really* don't want a graphical screensaver running on a thin client.
ok. done blank only. Still crashing with previous error
|00:52||NeonLicht has joined #LTSP|
Well, it's a problem with gnome-screensaver not liking the fact that the display's remote.
I'd file a bug with K12
ok will do. Thanks

hi we are using ltsp from lenny. Everything is working fine. Now I try to get local device support in a rdp session. Anyone experiences with this. I have read already a lot of things about it but nothing workable. Many txs
|09:59||rjune_wrk has quit IRC|
gekkos: vagrantc only just recently got this working well in debian - you need the latest ltspfs from bzr
gekkos: when he gets here, you can ask him if he packaged it yet
thanks i will
|10:02||rjune_wrk has joined #ltsp|
what do you mean 'from bzr' ??
|10:03||gate_keeper_ has quit IRC|
gekkos: all of our upstream code is maintained using "bzr" which is a version control system
but is this i a way than compatible with lenny?
|10:05||rjune_wrk has quit IRC|
our method moving forward for supporting localdevices with rdp is to install ltspfs in the chroot
so it acts as an automounter
it will mount the devices in the chroot in /media/root
|10:06||Lns has joined #ltsp|
so, you would use: rdesktop -r disk:drives=/media/root ...
|10:07||rjune_wrk has joined #ltsp|
and get a "drives" share in Windows under which will be folders for the drives
but, lenny was having issues up until just last week
with the local mounting
gadi: txs I will give it a try tomorrow on a testing server, if I have issues I let you know
|10:09||bobby_C has joined #ltsp|

if you cross paths
or you can apply the few patches from 0.5.12

hi folks, i have the following Problem: We have a ubuntu 9.04 server which runs ltsp and dhcp. Its a member of our Domain (winbind) - Win2k8-Server which manages the Active-Directory and our Windows PCs and users. Now when we start a thinclient we arent able to login... Maybe one of u has an idea how to deal with it...

sbalneav: any progress on ldm ? Alpha3 is due next week and I'll do a general LTSP update before then (did quite a few changes for ltsp itself and some changes in ldm that could be interesting too)
Ahmuck: And you've got pulse issues as well, too, right?
stgraber: I had some luck
but my server side software, ubuntu ltsp was installed 32 bit
don't know if that makes a difference
sbalneav: would you think it possible to have something working this week ?
stgraber: I can try.
I guess there'll be freeze on next Tuesday
so will likely upload on Sunday or Monday so I can do some tests and last minute fix before freeze
I'll work on it tonight then. Alice is off for aquacise.

stgraber, it doesnt mention all copyright holders in debian/copyright
ogra: oh, who did I miss ?
stgraber, the authors from HP ;)
with util.py you pul in a foreign source file
ah, right, forgot this one ...
and you should add a get-orig-source target to debian/rules
beyond that it looks perfect
ogra: hmm, is get-orig-source needed when there's a watch file ?
i think its good style to have one
(I don't think any of the packages I touch have get-orig-source ;))
just copy paste :)
well, that one is because it was repacked ...
(with porper url and without recompressing indeed)
what was repacked ?
I mean, get-orig-source makes sense when upstream is .bz2 or contains a debian directory or similar stuff so you can easily reproduce the .orig.tar.gz
|13:38||hanthana has quit IRC|
didn't think it was needed when upstream is already a clean .tar.gz but anyway, that's easy to add
get-orig-source simply makes maintenance very easy
|13:38||vagrantc has joined #ltsp|
its more convenient for people coming after you and taking over maintenance
indeed, lintian wont complain if there is a watch file
but i think its good style to add it to new packages
it actually does complain if missing a watch file
i think it checks for either, if get-orig-source is there it doesnt complain ...
but i'm not 100% sure
anyway, since you have to touch it anyway its a good training ;)
and just a copy/paste job
|13:41||k3j0 has left #ltsp|
tell me if the reworked version is up and i'll give an ACK
stgraber: what does the get-orig-source target do? does it automatically fetch the original tarball so that it doesn't have to be done manually?
highvoltage: yeah, it does the same as uscan does with the watch file
they are usually redundant but that won't hurt to have both
stgraber: I am having some issues with iTalc. You got a second?

ogra: hey, what about calling uscan from get-orig-source ?
ogra: that way, we only need to update the watch file
hmm, wouldnt you need a dep somewhere for that ?
ogra: btw your example is broken as the upstream version is hardcoded there ...
thats specific to that package
the example on Ubuntu's wiki uses uscan to guess the upstream version, so using uscan for everything should be fine too :)
(the "if you use a watch file" part)
the UPSTREAM_VERSION is retrieved with uscan, so calling uscan --download will be even better
yup, looks fine to me
last comment contains a good example of using uscan though, will use that one
yeah, looks very clean
|14:15||* ogra nevr packages with cdbs|
it makes packaging so clean ;)
but doesn't work well with complex stuff though
|14:16||* ogra is debhelper fan since the beginning|
well, cdbs generates dh behind :)
cdbs does a ton of stuff i usually dont need
|14:17||dan_young has quit IRC|
if i want my packages as clean as i can do them with direct debhelper calls the rules get way more complex :)
its just that nobody does that and simply lives with the bloat
