<uumas>
I'm getting an error when booting a client from a newly installed ltsp19, ubuntu 19.10 server: `Could not boot image: Result too large (http://ipxe.org/46022001)`
10:13
<alkisg>
uumas, update and run ltsp -o ipxe
10:14
I've sent an update that fixes that 2 days ago
10:20
(now ltsp.ipxe is completely regenerated, no preserved content; of course the user may just avoid running ltsp ipxe and manage it manually)
10:20
(as I implemented methods to customize the timeout, the menu titles etc)
10:22
<uumas>
alkisg: Ok thanks!

<uumas>
Okay now I get `LTSP command failed: /usr/share/ltsp/client/login/pamltsp install`
11:44
Can I just disable pamltsp entirely?

<alkisg>
uumas, are you trying with ldap on the client?
12:08
Also, what are the error messages above that line, that are the actual causes?
12:11
<uumas>
alkisg: Yes, client has ldap as I'm using chrootless image. Only thing above that say `Could not configure PAM for SSH authentication`
12:11
<alkisg>
uumas, ok that's because you changed /etc/pam.d/common etc etc to something that the code doesn't know
12:11spaced0ut has left IRC (spaced0ut!~spaced0ut@unaffiliated/spaced0ut, Remote host closed the connection)
12:11
<alkisg>
Let me see how you can best disable that...
12:12
<uumas>
Ah the ipa-client-install script must have done that
12:12
<alkisg>
The pam code is at: /ltsp/client/init/55-pam.sh
12:13
To locally override it:
12:13spaced0ut has joined IRC (spaced0ut!~spaced0ut@unaffiliated/spaced0ut)
12:13
<alkisg>
create 60-local-pam.sh with an empty pam_main() { true; } function
12:13
and run ltsp initrd
12:19section1 has joined IRC (section1!~section1@178.33.109.106)
12:20
<uumas>
Can it be put in /etc/ltsp somewhere or do I need to put it in /usr/share/ltsp? I don't like having to modify files in /usr/share...
12:38
<alkisg>
uumas, try an empty /etc/ltsp/client/init/55-pam.sh file
12:38
I think I made that override the one in /usr/share/ltsp
12:38
(or symlink to /dev/null should also work)
12:45
uumas, how will you be mounting /home/username?
12:45
<uumas>
Through nfs
12:45
<alkisg>
OK then you don't need pamltsp at all. NFS3 or NFS4?
12:50
<uumas>
kerberized nfs4
12:50
<alkisg>
OK great
12:50
If you manage it, I think ltsp users would owe you a favor if you documented that in the wiki
12:51
My schools here are small ones so I don't think I'm ever going to use ldap/kerberos, to document it myself...
12:52
<uumas>
Well, we have ~20 active users, but I'm just doing it for fun / I want my own files safe
