when I use ltsp-pnp to boot my optiplex client and use autologin to start chromium from the .profile the resolution is not correct (only 3/4 of the screen are used, the right side of the screen stays blankà. When it just logs on to MATE the resolution is OK.

Trendzetter: that's because in the second case you're using a window manager (marco)
09:02
Either launch marco from your .profile too (or better yet create a session for that),
09:02
or check if chromium can correctly run full screen without a window manager
09:15
<Trendzetter>
ok thanks, I'll look into those options now

I use LTSP 5.5.9 (Debian Stretch). I would like to configure NTP for all FAT Clients. If I use NBD image it does not take the option TIMESERVER in lts.conf. lts.conf is located under /srv/tftp/ltsp/stretch/ Where do I have to configure NTP when I use NBD?
13:23
<alkisg>
wim2: check your tftpd logs to see where it looks for the file
13:23
Possibly in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/
13:23
Or in /srv/tftp/ltsp/i386
13:24
(for the lts.conf file, that is)

alkisg: txs, from the logs ltsp is looking under /ltsp/amd64/lts.conf (so probably /srv/tftpboot/ltsp/amd64/lts.conf). But I don't have a amd64 directory. I installed my chroot under /opt/ltsp/stretch.Where can i change this that ltsp should look under /srv/tftpboot/ltsp/stretch?

question1000: are you here? :)
14:38
<wim2>
alkisg: txs, I symlink, it found now the file. But the it stillnot work.In lts.conf I have under [Default] TIMESERVER = x.x.x.x (the time server works because all our servers are using this server. Do I still need something to configure?
14:39
<question1000>
ok. I'm here ... I checked the situation in our classroom again. and maybe I've got a hint now why the clients are shown as "Offline" when no user is logged in??
14:39
<alkisg>
wim2: run this: ltsp-localapps xterm
14:39
Can you ping TIMESERVER from that xterm? (on a client)
14:39
!localxterm
14:39
<ltsp>
localxterm: Any applications that you launch on a thin client actually runs on the server, not on the client itself. If you want to open a program on the client locally, you can type 'ltsp-localapps <program>' in a run dialog or in a terminal. For example, 'ltsp-localapps xterm' to open a terminal running on the client.
14:40
<alkisg>
question1000: are you telling me that you have a hint, or are you asking for help?

look here -- maybe you know what's wrong there: https://pastebin.com/Yj9U9D5L
14:41
<alkisg>
question1000: sorry, but to help you, I ask for info and you provide the results; you've never done that...
14:41
You come here, say a few things that are unrelated to the issue, and leave
14:42
I can't help that way
14:42
<question1000>
yes, it's not so simple as the rooms are offline in the evenings
14:42
<alkisg>
Come in the morning then
14:42
Whatever
14:44
<question1000>
maybe there's a chance tomorrow morning ... let's see
14:46
<wim2>
alkisg: yes I can ping
14:46
<question1000>
(btw: i always wondered why there's a redirect on your website from http://www.epoptes.org/screenshots ---> https://docs.google.com/comments/.... ). I've got Firefox 53.0 (64 bit) here ...
14:51
<alkisg>
wim2: check the contents of /var/cache/ltsp/ltsp_client_env
14:53
(on that localxterm)
15:03
question1000: that's how google sites work
15:07
<wim2>
alkisg: i only have ltsp_config_env, and the TIMESERVER is correct here (Iam using Fat Clients)
15:11
<question1000>
alkisg: ... but here I get just text when the redirect starts ... it begins with : (function(){var aa=" dcs-a-dcs-w-dcs-af-dcs-bf",ca="+1 this comment",da="-dcs-be-dcs-gh",ea="-dcs-c",fa="-dc .... a whole page full of text-only! This cant be correct .... when I use another browser (lets say "konqueror") it works...
15:16
<alkisg>
wim2: then it might be an issue with jessie; try with stretch to see if we fixed it in the meantime
15:17
question1000: I can't help you with that, I don't have access to fix google sites
15:17
(or the browser you're using)
15:17
Firefox works fine here
15:18
wim2: you can also put ltsp_config_env in pastebin, to see if there's something wrong with that
15:18
<wim2>
alkisg: i am using stretch
15:19
<alkisg>
wim2: strange, and you still have 1-year old bugs?
15:19
Did you update the chroot?
15:20
What's the output of `sudo ltsp-info`?
15:20
<wim2>
alkisg: yes with ltsp-image-update
15:20
<alkisg>
wim2: no, I mean with apt-get update in the chroot
15:21
<question1000>
maybe I will reconnect tomorrow morning ... bye

alkisg: ltsp-info - https://pastebin.com/kUqLZRF3
15:24
alkisg: what difference would it make to do apt-get update in the chroot?
15:25
<alkisg>
Hmm something doesn't add up here; you have ltsp-client 5.5.9-2 which is supposed not to have that lts.conf location bug that you've mentioned
15:25
apt-get update in the chroot updates the chroot programs
15:25
ltsp-update-image then packages them in squashfs format
15:26
If you re-package without updating first, you don't update...
15:26
But in your case it's not a matter of updates
15:26
You have a fully updated chroot, yet you have bugs that shouldn't have been there
15:27
If you add x11vnc or epoptes to the chroot, I could help with remote support on the client...
15:27
!vnc-dide
15:27
<ltsp>
vnc-dide: To share your screen with me, run this: sudo apt-get --yes install x11vnc; x11vnc -connect srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr - this is a reverse connection, it doesn't need port forwarding etc.
15:27
<alkisg>
!epoptes
15:27
<ltsp>
epoptes: Epoptes is a computer lab administration and monitoring tool. It works on Ubuntu and Debian based labs with LTSP or non-LTSP servers, thin and fat clients, standalone workstations, NX clients etc. More info: http://www.epoptes.org
15:30
<wim2>
alkisg: ltsp_config_env - https://pastebin.com/DpsEaXtB
15:33
<alkisg>
It looks fine
15:36
<wim2>
alkisg: for me too
15:37
<alkisg>
wim2: right, so your problem needs debugging, hence I suggested vnc or epoptes
15:38
Hmm although if stretch is using systemd instead of ntpd directly, then it might be a general ltsp bug, not one specific to your setup
15:38
I.e. TIMESERVER with systemd might be broken
15:39
<wim2>
alkisg: stretch is using systemd
15:41
<alkisg>
Yes I know, I meant if systemd in stretch has its own way of calling ntp instead of the traditional way that ltsp supported
15:42
<wim2>
ok

<alkisg>
Yeah I think stretch is using systemd-timedated, and we don't have any timedatectl calls in the ltsp code, so I guess we haven't implement that yet
