<walter>
Hey you guys
12:43
Is cyberorg around?
12:44
Or anybody willing to gimme a hand in getting a local scanner to work in KIWI-Ltsp?
12:45
This far I added this option to lts.conf
12:45
XINETD_SERVICES = saned
12:45
But it ain't working, unfortunately
12:50
More generally, how do I add a library to the KIWI image?
12:51
I'm into the client console, using Alt F1, and it ain't finding the scanner cause of a missing libgphoto2.so.2
12:51
How do I add that to the image of that client?
12:52
<johnny>
perhaps it is documented somehwere
12:52
i've never used kiwi personally tho
12:53
<walter>
I'm looking for it in Google, in the meantime
12:58
Is it right that it should work in the client console, before it works in the LTSP environment?
13:00
<johnny>
probably..
13:00
<walter>
How do I add a library then? Is it in the config.xml file?

<johnny>
walter, i'd assume wherever the list of packages are
13:05
you'd just add ligphoto2
13:05
and rebuild the image
13:07
<walter>
That's what I am doing
13:07
Rebuilding with kiwi-ltsp-setup -s

Ryan52: how hard do you think it would be to get multiple guest login buttons, that use icons instead of text?
17:36
Ryan52: each button associated with a different user...
17:37
<Ryan52>
oh.
17:37
different users?!? uhhh...what?

<stgraber>
vagrantc: why can't they just use the autologin feature on these computers ? they wouldn't even have to click on an icon then
18:15
<vagrantc>
stgraber: each icon is for a different grade level
18:15
stgraber: with a different corresponding environment
18:16
what i haven't asked yet, is if their current implementation is on disk'ed workstations ...

<Ahmuck>
this was a request of mine as well. icon for logins
19:42
<vagrantc>
so, having trouble getting XRANDR to work with a (physical) KVM
19:43
seems like the KVM interferes with XRANDR's ability to probe the monitor, and the resolution comes out at 800x600, even though it can do 1280x1024
19:44
i wonder how difficult it would be to write hard-coded handling of X_MODE_[0-2]
19:47
<stgraber>
vagrantc: you may want to set VBEModes to True
19:47
<vagrantc>
stgraber: in lts.conf ?
19:47
<stgraber>
vagrantc: I had a similar issue with some DVI/VGA splitter on VIA hardware. setting VBEModes to true using screen-session.d then using X_RANDR_MODE_0 to set the right resolution
19:47
vagrantc: I did it through a screen-session.d script but you may be able to do it through a lts.conf option as well
19:48
the result you need is VBEModes set to true in the device section of the resulting xorg.conf
19:48
<vagrantc>
what's VBEModes ?
19:48
how do i set it?
19:48
ah, device section
19:49
<stgraber>
IIRC setting VBEModes to true makes the video card to ignore DDC and instead just return what's supported according to the video card

<vagrantc>
stgraber: Option "VBEModes" "true" ?
21:17
that seemed to at least allow it to start...
21:21
<stgraber>
then you should be able to change the resolution to the one you want using randr
21:23
<vagrantc>
well, XRANDR_MODE_0 didn't work...
21:23
no luck
21:23
stgraber: in the Device section?

<vagrantc>
hmmm... seemed to completely ignore X_HORZSYNC and X_VERTREFRESH in xorg.conf ...
21:36
well, the values got set in /var/run/ltsp-xorg.conf ... but it ignored the settings...
21:37
according to /var/log/Xorg.7.log ...
21:46
seems like i needed to add ... echo " Monitor \"Monitor${num}\"" >> ${XCONF} to write_screen in XS90-assembleXorgConf
21:46
without that it ignored the X_HORZSNC and X_VERTREFRESH settings
