<alkisg>
Hey vagrantc, in EU timezone? :)
09:18
I was wondering, is there any reason ltsp-remoteapps is implemented with xprop, instead of a fifo at /run/ltsp/<uid> ?
09:54
<vagrantc>
alkisg: not yet
09:54
alkisg: but soon!
09:55
alkisg: probably to leverage the localapps implementation, but there are surely better ways of doing it

<alkisg>
vagrantc: I want to reimplement remoteapps like this: http://termbin.com/m5xz
18:30
This (also) means a dependency on sudo
18:30
Is that ok? The current implementation needs > 5 MB RAM for sh + xprop, while this one needs no RAM, so it can be enabled by default
18:31
The "exec" line needs to be written a bit better than just ldm_socket_*, but I'll do that part before committing
18:32
And there's no ltsp-localappsd anymore
18:33
So, I'm asking about the suid/sudoers/sudo dependency... that's fine with me, I don't know if you have any objections there; the packaging will need a bit of updating, I can do that part as well
18:36
And the next step will be to have a list of password settings programs, like gnome-about-me or mate-about-me, and have them ran as remoteapps by default, without the user specifying anything in lts.conf
18:38
An init-ltsp.d script will create /usr/local/bin/gnome-about-me, passwd, mate-about-me etc, all symlinks to /usr/share/ltsp/remoteapp, which runs ltsp-remoteapp "$0" "$@"
18:39
(I prefer that to sed'ing .desktop files; as people then can run those from the command line as well)

<carmelTech>
hello, just started to set up LTSP in my school's computer lab.
23:53
is there any need to fuss with the dcb (data center bridging) for flow control? I'm using an unmanaged switch and ubuntu 18.04
