<onixx>
good morning. been awhile since I have been here.. ltsp pnp been working great for us.
15:28
I have a question I'm having trouble figuring out. I have a mount (cifs) in /etc/fstab. It get properly mounted and accessible on thin clients. However, on fat, it does not get mounted
15:29
how do I proceed to get the mount to work for me on fat clients ?
15:43
<alkisg>
onixx: when you say "accesible on thin clients", do you mean localapps, or apps that run on the server?
15:43
To put something in /etc/fstab on the clients, you use FSTAB_xx lines
15:49kjackal has left IRC (kjackal!~quassel@50-201-118-110-static.hfc.comcastbusiness.net, Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
15:56
<onixx>
alkisg: accessible meant it gets mounted to /media/storage/
15:56
where on fat, nothing gets mounted
15:56
ok FSTAB_xx: will cifs work ? do the fat client get cifs if cifs is installed
15:56
i do not have chroot
15:59
<alkisg>
onixx: /media/storage on the client or on the server?
15:59
Thin client sessions are on the server
15:59
So I suspect it doesn't "work on thin clients", it "works on the server" only
16:01
Sure, as long as you put the correct fstab line there, it should work on both thin (localapps) and fat clients, it's the same
16:02
If you need to enter a password in a file, you need to provide that too

<onixx>
thanks
16:23
alkisg: my mount point does not exits I believe on the fat client, how to I include the empty directory I need to mount on the image ?
16:33
<alkisg>
onixx: INIT_COMMAND_1="mkdir -p /media/storage"

<alkisg>
derick_: ltsp manager is only available for ubuntu 16.04
19:09
<derick_>
okay.
19:09
<alkisg>
There wasn't much interest as I hoped in it, so I might stop offering it in english, meaning it might stay a greek only "sch-scripts" application
19:09
So I would advice against investing in it
19:11
<derick_>
alkisg : the wiki site says it is also available on Debian Experimental. Whats that?
19:12
<alkisg>
It's a repository of debian that can be used for test packages
19:12
Tell your mentor that the ltsp developer advices against investing in ltsp manager, and completely ignore it...
19:12
*the ltsp manager developer
19:16
<derick_>
okay. I will. But droping mail him(from ltsp-manager developer) about this would be good.
19:16
if I remember correctly vagrantc said on mailing list ltsp-manager is already in Debian: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/ltsp-manager
19:22
<alkisg>
it's in experimental, not in proper debian releases
19:23
I don't think it will ever be
19:24
I was thinking of applying in this gsoc project as a student, but when i proposed that it was pretty much useless and to make it more useful, your mentor didn't like my proposal...
19:24
so i avoided it
19:33
(i.e. personally I believe that effort should go in making "ltsp-config" better, not implement scripts that will do what ltsp-config should do itself)
19:33
...and, in making ltsp run better in recent distributions, it has many issues
