hi...when I create on server new user(useradd) and this user I add in lts.conf ..do I have to update image?
11:48
<alkisg>
If you mean that you're using lts.conf / RCFILE_ or INIT_COMMAND to add the user, then no, you don't need ltsp-update-image
11:49
<ZAJDAN>
alkisg: thnx
11:49
<alkisg>
If you add the user on the server, then you don't need ltsp-update-image either, just rebooting
11:49
If you add the user in the chroot, THEN you need ltsp-update-image

do anybody have experience with touch-screen on thin-client with xinput calibrator?

On the installation page it says you can change the group that the epoptes server is looking for away from epoptes. However, I did not see the relevant configuration instructions listed anywhere. Can someone either point me to it or let me know how to change the group?

<alkisg>
eu^20674212254: why do you want to change the epoptes group?
13:21
It's configured in /etc/default/epoptes

<eu^20674212254>
alkisg: I have complete control over the lab but not the accounts. I've tied in with the AD/LDAP and so group membership is pulled from there. The likelyhood of convincing ITS to add a group epoptes is slim to none.
13:27
This is just what I needed though thank you.
13:27
<jammcq>
alkisg: HEY!!! i'm doing very well. how are you?
13:28
<alkisg>
eu^20674212254: ok, recent epoptes versions should work with ldap with no issues, change it there
13:28
jammcq: all is fine, we met with stgraber, highvoltage and vagrantc at debconf17
13:28
We have a new project called ltsp-manager :)
13:29
I was thinking that it's time to do something with ltsp.org, it's extremely old now...
13:29
<jammcq>
oh wow, I would have loved to be there but work is too busy right now
13:29
<alkisg>
If the people that host it don't have enough time to provide us with a newer vm, maybe I can host ltsp.org myself?
13:29
(not the .mx records of course, just the website etc)
13:32
<jammcq>
hmm, how do I "log in with services" to freenode?
13:32
i'm trying to send a private msg and it's not letting me
13:32
i've been away from irc too long
13:34
<alkisg>
I think it's /nickserv identify jammcq passwd
13:36
<eu^20674212254>
alkisg: By saying recent versions work with LDAP do you mean that older epoptes servers would manually parse /etc/group?
13:36
<alkisg>
eu^20674212254: no, in older versions epoptes would start before the ldap service + network so it wouldn't resolve ldap groups when it started
13:37
But this shouldn't make you worry if you have any new (e.g. 3- years) epoptes version
13:38
<eu^20674212254>
I see
13:41
alkisg: Worked perfectly. Thank yuo.

<ltsp>
fatclients: Nowadays LTSP supports thin and fat clients. They are both diskless and netbooted from the same LTSP chroot, but while thin clients run the session on the server and transfer the screen, fat clients run the session locally with their own CPU/RAM, thus performing amazingly better. See also !ltsp-pnp and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/FatClients
